See, my thing was... I really LIKED the armor in RoboCop. I dug how it was kind of cumbersome and slow. I liked the way it moved... I liked the way it sounded... It felt very real.

I'm not so sure it would have the same effect today. Even as cool as Iron Man was, that just wouldn't feel right with RoboCop.

Handy guide:

Robocop - Pretty fun.
Robocop 2 - Fucking terrible.
Robocop 3 - So funny-bad it would make a great MST3K episode.

People don't appreciate the genius of Robocop 3. Robocop drove a pimp car for a little while there, and the parts where he "fights" (gets embarrassed by) the Japanese robots are hilarious. And even tho' it sucks, it manages to have one of the best Robocop tough guy lines, when he comes to the police station with the flame thrower arm thing, starts to walk down the hall, comes back and says, "You may want to call the fire department."

I haven't read it in years, but I remember loving it.

Oh, man. I found that at MegaCon a few years back. I had never even heard of it, and was just flipping through some random Dark Horse comics, and just happened to stop at issue 1. I saw Frank Miller and Walt Simonson's names, and then noticed it was Robocop vs the FREAKING TERMINATORS.

It was so awesome.

Ryp has a good sense of layout and design, but his figures & especially faces are really weak and the absurd level of detail suffers tremendously in black & white, which is how he's most often published at Avatar. I am not a fan.

Have you taken a look at what he's doing with Warren Ellis on Black Summer? I think his art's friggin' fantastic...
