How long has Iron Man had that Superman-style shield on his chest instead of the round circle? Is that how he is being drawn now? I don't remember....

The origins of the trapezoidal unibeam projector goes back to IM #200, when it was introduced in his red-and-silver armor. It's been alternated with the circular shaped one for a while, particularly on his post-Heroes Reborn suit.
