And rightly so, because the whole Midnight Sons line was pure awesome.

This doesn't mean they're going to put Ghost Rider back in that clown costume, does it?

I would love to see Aaron's take on some of the old Midnight Sons work.

THe first Dan Ketch bike was the coolest Ghost Rider motor cycle ever.

That costume was suppose to be a one issue battle suit and the editor loved the idea of putting Ghost Rider in new duds that they kept it. As crappy as the latter issues were, I can't really blame Ivan Valez for working under editorial mandate like he did. The art didn't help either.

If anybody can find the designs for this costume that Adam Pollina drew you might think differently of it.

Because unfortunately very few people are reading GHOST RIDER, despite it being one of the absolute best books Marvel is currently publishing.

Yeah. I've been wanting to check it out, but my LCS has almost none of the back issues since they order so few of them. :( So I'll probably wait for the trade, but that just re-enforces the problem of not selling enough monthly! A vicious cycle!

how much of the stories were editorially mandated though? i mean, when valez took over, it was like he hadn't read anything that came before on the book, completely scrapped the supporting cast, and moved dan to spanish harlem for no reason.

while there had to be some editorial mandates, a lot of the writing in that book was not particularly great towards the end.

This was spoiled in interviews and solicits a while back wasn't it? I don't even read Ghost Rider & I already knew he was coming back.

A lot of Marvel at that time was heavily editorially controlled. I remember when Mark Waid took over X-Men, he only lasted a few issues because the editors kept re-writing his scripts, changing his dialogue and rejecting his story ideas.

I'm reading it b/c I love Aaron. That said, I only vaguely know who Dan Ketch was so this didn't strike me as that huge...

I don't really know the characters' histories. I'm vaguely aware of the fact that Ketch was Ghost Rider at one point, but I only joined on the book with Aaron's run, and know little of the character beyond that and what I saw in the film. I am surprised by how much I'm loving this book, though.

You should read the first two dozen or so issues of that series- it was amazing.

No fucking shit?!!! That's awesome. We need more Danny Ketch Ghost Rider. That whole run was great. Yeah it had some downs, but overall the best Ghost Rider ever.

And I want more Lilith.

And more covers like this, with stories that are equally awesome.

yes, but by the time valez took over ghost rider it wasn't the top selling book that it used to be.

whereas the x-books were certainly notorious for that sort of thing because of the success of the titles. i would be surprised if there was a lot of editorial interference in a book like GR.

This was the Ghost Rider I was introduced to. I loved Texieras art on the book(Javier Saltares did ti first). The first meeting of Ketch and Blaze was cool as well. I dug that bike and Blazes hellfire shot gun. The glow in the dark #13 was the first gimmick cover I ever bought.

I remember pretty much all of those things.. Loved the hellfire shotgun.

I also remember the "Sprits of Vengance" comic with the two of them together.

This was the one I was introduced to Ghost Rider as well. Maybe why he was always my favorite over Johnny Blaze. But I guess the same could be said for Kyle Rayner over Hal Jordan.

This series also introduced me to the Brood and Salvador Larroca's art as well.

I also remember that cover, and for that time it was great.

That was more the Midnight Sons group altogether.

Nightstalkers (Blade, Frank Drake, and Hannibal King), Morbius, Vengeance, Doc Strange, Blaze and Ghost Rider.

Alas it is not. It would be from the POV of someone Ghost Rider was chasing. It would be a horror story where the lead character of the criminal would be trying to run from Ghost Rider all night long. Ghost Rider would fill the role of Jason of Freddie. I think this would make him seem a lot more scarier. I am not really interested in the human alter ego of Ghosty here, just his scariness. The only times you would see Ghost rider would be in these Oh shit moments.

You would kind of empathize with said criminal throughout the story, never quite knowing exactly what he did so that you could kind of bond with him during the story and feel for this poor guy. I would want it to be real good psycho horror as this guy is coming unglued trying to avoid what you know will hapopen at the end.

I think it would work better as a movie though. Horror is very hard to pull off in a comic, but the suspense should be achievable.

I will wokr on a porn outline for you to be psoted in your thread.

That's a good idea. See Ghost Rider has that dual impression. Although the movie wasn't well liked, I remember how to the gal he saved, he wasn't fearsome or scarey, because the demon has no quarrel with those who haven't done anything. But to criminals and villians he seems demonic and scarey.

I also would love to see a good visual interpertation of the pennance stare. I didn't like it at all in the movie.

That would be very bad ass as like a Marvel Knights story. (Just so it can be told on it's own)

As for the movie, I think if you could get someone like Alex Ross to paint it, you could still pull the same effect in print.

Ha. Lilith. Is she still pregnant with Zarathos child? Did she ever give birth to his kid? Wait she must have give birth. She did show up for a bit in the Witches mini that stared Satanna, Jennifer Kale, and Topaz when they were playing Dr. Strange's version of Charlie's Angels. With Doc Strange as Charlie of course!
