3 out of 4 of mine do, and I never thought that was weird until some other people I know mentioned that even their parents don't. My material grandparents actually email me nearly every day. You?

Nope. I don't think they have the need to, y'know?

Why not? They don't have anyone to keep in touch with?

They have cars and the phone.

They have cars and the phone.

So do many people, but they still use email.

one set of grandparents divorced, and remarried, so actually 5 of them use e-mail.

My grandfather did. He was totally against the idea until my dad and uncle bought him a computer and then he loved it.

They keep in touch with people just fine as they are, so they don't need to use it.

They were all dead before the Internet became real popular.

And I'm young.

I taught them one afternoon, and left for a bit. When I came back, the monitor was in the mailbox.

Only my paternal grandfather uses e-mail. My maternal grandfather is well into his 90s and doesn't use it, and both of my grandmothers died before e-mail really took off (1989 and 1997).

All of my grandparents were long gone before the Internet was a common thing.

My parents and in-laws are in their 60s-70s, and only one of the four (my mother) uses email. She's a secretary and is actually really computer savvy.

My dad has never sent an email, and my wife's parents have a computer but no Internet access. I can't imagine it, but its fairly common.

My grandpa used to use e-mail but he didn't understand junk mail and opened every message he ever received.

It took me three days to fix his computer and stop all of the porn popups everytime he did anything. Part of me thinks he knew what he was doing though and is just a dirty old man, much like I hope to be when I'm 70.

My grandfather, 85, bought himself a pretty Mac computer a couple of years ago, and he's been having a ball figuring out all of the technology, including e-mail and photo-editing. It's quite endearing.

My maternal grandpa would never go near it, I doubt he has EVER used a computer in any way. My grandma has had a JUNO account for a while, and she loves to recieve and forward jokes, but any time an attachment comes in, she calls us for help, she can't really figure that part out.

Not 1 of my 4 grandparents had ever even TOUCHED a computer.

I hear comics are a goood medium to learn to read. You are in a great position to help her out. Unless she is like one of my grandmas and can't speak English. Then those comics are worthless...........................

My grandpa uses email all the time, but he doesn't like text messages either. I think it's because he doesn't know how to reply. He also has an email program that logs him onto Windows Live when he checks his email. If I send him an IM, he replies to it like it's an email. It's funny.

My grandpa laments that he did not learn computers when they were first gaining steam in the 70s and 80s, but I don't think I have ever seen him at the pc.

He too has no idea how to respond to a text message, plus has a smallphone and big nub fingers. :)

Nah, she can't speak English. And she can't read/write Spanish. She grew up in very, very poor third-world surroundings and didn't come to the States until 10 years ago. She's 80 years old and also kinda getting...um, senile. Half my conversations with her are me reminding her I am not my cousins. -_-;

Well, all my Grandparents died before there was such a thing, but my parents are old enough to be some of your grandparents (Dad's 78, Mom's a few years younger) and they both are avid e-mailers.

Only my maternal grandfather uses email. My paternal grandfather passed when I was 3 - very long before public email. My grandmothers don't ever use computers.

My elder grandmother has used email in the past, although she doesn't currently; my younger grandmother is fully online and has her own computer, etc.

To be fair to my grandfathers, both died before the public had access to email.
