Hey Frank, as is usually customary with most creator forums, I thought I'd start a Q&A thread if you don't mind.
To get things started, what can you tell us about yourself that your wikipedia entry excludes? Like how you broke into comics your first comics assignments, etc. etc?
We know what you've got coming out for DC for 2008, and you've said you have a project at Marvel you can't talk about, but will it be released before the end of the year? SI related or not?
From wikipedia:
Frank Tieri is a comic book writer. He has written New Excalibur, Wolverine (and it's spin-off, a short-lived Weapon X ongoing series), Underworld, a post Avengers Disassembled Hercules mini-series, Wolverine/Darkness, Dracula versus Apocalypse, Civil war: War crimes, as well as World War Hulk: Gamma Corps for Marvel Comics.
For DC, he has written a JSA Classified story, as well as Countdown tie-ins Lord Havok and the Extremists and Gotham underground.
His style is gritty, yet usually laden with pop-culture references and black humor, and as such has kept on writing the books spotlighting villains.

From wikipedia:
My Wikipedia entry's not exactly too expansive (anybody want to talk a shot at it, be my guest)-- but at least it's about me! (by the way, I'll also point out that Weapon X wasn't exactly "short lived"-- it did last over 2 1/2 years amd spawned a follow up mini)There was a point where it claimed in addition to be a comic book writer, I conducted an orchestra in Illinois.
Yeah, I kid you not.
how I broke in was as an intern-- particullarly Bob Harras' intern when he was EIC. I can't tell you how invaluable that was for my breaking in-- not only did I get a front row seat to the everyday going's on in a comic book company, but I made friends and contacts that would eventually help get me to where I am.
From my internship, I moved on to doing a lot of fill-in jobs at Marvel-- everything to doing photostats of artwork to filling in for assistant editors when they were out. Eventually, my friend Ben Raab, who was working for Marvel.com at the time gave me a shot to work on the website and I did some writing and artwork for them. This led to me becoming the head writer for the site and soon after I became content editor for the site.
It's around this time, all the pitches I had submitted through the years had started to get noticed. Joe Q, who I knew from editing on Marvel.com, needed a co writer for Iron Man to help with the workload (he had his hands full with a little thing called Marvel Knights in those days) and asked me to pitch in. Naturally I jumped at the chance.
Everything steamrolled from that. My work on IM got me noticed by Mark Powers, who was Mr X-Men in those days, and he thought I would be a good fit for Wolverine. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Marvel project I was talking about is NOT SI related-- though it is tied into a larger thing. And it's not the only Marvel project I have in the works up there.
As for my DC stuff, you really don't know what I have coming out in 2008 since I just got handed a fairly sizeable gig up there that I can't talk about yet. But stay tuned

Hi, Frank.
I was reading up on your Dark Reign: Made Men project and it sounds like something I'd be interested in but I'm unsure about the format the project will take. The IGN interview seems to indicate it will be a traditional one-shot comic but Marvel.com says they're digital comics.
Will this be a traditional comic or a digital comic?

It's actually both. First they're going to premiere as digital comics on Marvel.com but eventually they'll all be collected together to be printed.
Thanks for your interest in the project, dude
