It already has. :) GoDaddy cut the cord on the site without warning, according to Wired Magazine. (http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/03/godaddy-silence.html) Lobbyists even spoke with Congress about trying to ban or limit the site.

Personally, I think this site is brilliant :p

only problem i see with it is the people like to use it are the ones who feel they've been victimized. people who have no issues with their towns police won't go looking for ways to sing their praises.

and people are unreasonably hard on police officers, i've found.

True, I could see how this might skewer the image of police officers, but I've come to find that some reviews reveal just as much about the reviewer as it does about the police. For instance, I noticed there was one guy (username "OshVegas24") who badly reviewed several of my city's police, with trolltastic bad grammar and spelling. Anyone who has encountered that many officers and give them bad reviews like that isn't really an opinion worth a lick of salt imho ;)

But I do see quite a bit of favorable reviews as I do bad reviews. One of the reviews is a girl who called the police because she was getting threatening and harrassing phone calls, she complimented the police on how well they handled and resolved the situation.

i'm always twitchy about stuff like this. from the time i was a little kid, i always liked cops and had a lot of very pleasant encounters with them. and, as a teen, worked closely with a few for my youth group. now my brother is a cop in my town, so i'm by default likely to side with the cops more often than not. so a site like this makes me...cautious.

I know what you mean. Thankfully, almost every police officer I've encountered throughout my life were totally nice and respectful, and did a good job communicating with me; even when issuing me a $200 speeding ticket.

It's bizarre. I think I may be a bit opposite of most people, I think. I've had a lot of unfortunate run-ins with the police. Most them, though, were due to my own idiocy. I don't blame the police. Yeah, there have been incidents where the cop was being a dick for dickishness (I like to make up words) sake. In most cases, though, it was all me.

What I'm getting at is: the police I really remember, are the good cops. For instance, last year I had a fender bender. I rear ended the guy and it was totally my fault. I admit it. Not much damage, but I felt horrible. The cop arrives, and he talks the other guy out of pressing charges, because he just genuinely didn't want me to have deal with all this crap (raised insurance rates, fines, etc.) over a silly little accident. He even gave a free ticket to see his band play at this local bar.

edit: I should also add, I payed for the others cars damage out of pocket. I wasn't going to fuck him over.
These are type of police encounters I really remember. I'm not going to go bash a someone on the internet, who is just doing their job.
