Arcade Fire to score Richard Kelly's 'Box'
First they were campaigning for Obama, now the Arcade Fire are reportedly lending their talents to Hollywood. According to Pitchforkmedia, the acclaimed Canadian rock group will score Richard Kelly's new horror movie, 'The Box.'

The film, starring Cameron Diaz and Frank Langella, is written and directed by Kelly and is based on the Richard Matheson short, 'Button, Button.' Story revolves around a couple (Diaz and James Marsden) who open their door to find a box containing a button. If they push the button, they will receive $1 million. Only thing is--someone will die if they press it.

Although no official confirmation has come from Arcade Fire or Kelly's camp, the film's music engineer, Markus Dravs, apparently spilled the beans on his blog recently. ".... off to Canada to work with Arcade Fire on a Sound-track for the forth coming Richard Kelly film.....," he writes.

'The Box' has finished lensing and is slated for a fall 2008 release.

Hells Yeah. Haven't heard of the movie, but if this proves true I may have to check it out just for the score.

Peace,

this is one of the few twilight zone stories I remember.
the ending stood out as a true twilight zone moment.

i was suprised to find that this was being made into a film.

I suppose it ruins the movie for me however, if they keep the ending the same.

The Twilight Zone ep had a different ending than the original Matheson short story.

So I'm pretty much in for this on AF alone.

Wait...original Twilight Zone or newer Twilight Zone? I thought I had seen all the Serling ones.

I remember this movie from when eli Roth was gonna do it a couple of years ago. I like Roth, but I'm glad Kelly is doing it.

Kelly has a lot of work ahead of him. Digging out after "Southland Tales" won't be easy...

Cameron Diaz?

I don't like DIaz but she was in Being John Malkovich and that movie was great. Maybe this will be her second good film.

That awesome that this is still being made and that Arcade is scoring the soundtrack! I hadn't heard anything about this movie for a while...and very surprised that it's being released this fall!?

The biggest problem I see here...Cameron Diaz.

It's from the 1985-1986 series...which should never be confused with the horrible one from 2002 (ish) one *shudder*.

Was Roth scheduled to direct it at one point? Because I know Kelly has always been rumored/attached to write it.

Ah. I haven't seen any of those.

Yeah he was gonna direct and co-write. I'm glad it worked out this way.
