And lately my 2 year old is obsessed with the movie so I'm watching it a lot these days and it really holds up for me

While I enjoy certain aspects and scenes of Superman Returns, all in all, it was too nostalgic for Donner's Superman for its own good.

Still, if you want a movie of Superman lifting things...it's the best you can get,

My favorites in no particular order:

Batman Returns,
X-Men United,
X-Men: The Last Stand,
Batman,
Superman: The Movie,
Supergirl,
Spider-Man 2
Hellboy,
Fantastic Four
Sin City,
Kill Bill 1 and 2(yeah, I know it's not based on any comic, but this is as close to a "comic book film" as Tarantino gets, and the best comic book film NOT based on a comic, imo)
Superman 2

The ones I can't stand, I either found them dull as hell, boring or pretentious and pointless

Batman Forever
Catwoman
Fantastic Four:Rise Of The Silver Surfer
Batman Begins
X-Men
Spider-Man 3
Superman Returns
Daredevil
Ghost World

7. Hellboy
8. Spider-Man 3
9. 300
10. Daredevil: Director's Cut

Can't help but notice the third Spider-Man film not getting alot of love on these lists. It had it's problems (and this isn't really the thread to discuss them), but man I love watching that movie. And though it didn't make my top ten, I echo the previous poster's Hulk nod. That one drags in places, but sometimes I'll throw it on just to watch the 15-20 minutes or so of the Hulk smashing tanks and helicopters.

I wouldn't say it's the best made of the three, but it's the most fun and enjoyable IMO.

I think Road to Perdition has to be the best because it actually improves on the source material and elevates it to something pretty spectacular.

The fact that many of you aren't even listing it is kind of surprising to me.

Very fun too watch and certainly not a dull moment. I'd rank Spider-Man 2 as the best Spidey film of the three though. That movie is very nearly the perfect superhero film for me. Iron Man and the second X-Men movie are right up there as well.

It's in my could not rank pile. I've seen it, I liked it a lot, but I can't remember it enough to list it. Think I have the DVD unopened, which makes that worse :)

Same for the Rocketeer. It'd probably be near the top, but I wouldn't be happy listing it with my knowledge of it.

Well, to me it's a strange film, becasue I dont associate it as a comic book film because I've never read the book, only seen the movie. It's a fabulous movie, but to me it's just a fabulous movie, not a fabulous comicbook movie, if you get my drift.

I think I've only seen Spidey 2 once or twice, but what's the big allure for everyone? I know everything was "bigger", but I thought all the mega-action scenes were too CGI-y, was really disappointed with Doc Ock being played so sympathetically, and found the hard-luck Peter Parker stuff to be painfully overplayed.

I found it to be an authentic Spidey movie. The storylines with Mary Jane are done beautifully. The Doc Ock fights are a lot of fun. And near the end a whole lot of stuff starts happening that when I first saw it I was shocked they were doing so soon, especially after the first movie ended on such a down note.

It was sort of an anti-Empire Strikes Back ending, in that the first one ended on 'aw, man Peter will never get with Mary Jane' and if you had told me that by the end of the second one they would get together, I'd have said 'oh, really? That's lame, the end of the first one worked really well...' but they pulled it off in such a way that Peter got a happy ending, freed from the guilt and responsibility of the whole thing.

And the portrayal of Doc Ock absolutely worked for me. I like my villians sympathetic on some level and the way they went with it felt authentic enough to the character while also making him a character who had a whole arc in the one movie without needing to be followed up upon.

The Harry stuff (which ended up disappointing with SM3) worked really well too. The unmasking Peter scene is astonishing and another thing I absolutely didn't see coming.

It was as good a Spider-Man film as I expect to get, ever. And a large part of it is that it's, in the canon of Spider-Man stories, be they Ultimate, 616 or in other media, it's one of my very favorites.

Thanks for the respondo. I don't agree with you, obviously, but it's interesting to see why it hooked so many people. I think I had a tough time just getting past the fact that Raimi's Spidey only wisecracked once in a blue moon. That's, like, Spidey's main thing!

Doc Ock was brilliant

I do think the actor did a fine job. But while Batman's grown a tradition of sympathetic villains - especially since the 90s cartoon gave 'em such fascinating makeovers - Doc Ock has always been one of the great megalomaniac supervillains. It bummed me out to see him so sympathetic, and I actually felt he upstaged Spider-Man during the finale. Didn't he sacrifice himself to save everyone or something?

That's pussy supervillainy!

I'm so proud.

Where's the "beaming with pride" smiley? This smarmy-lookin' one will have to do...

I forgot about The Rocketeer and Stardust and the X-Men movies didn't even come into my mind.

Stardust was never a comic, it was a prose novel with pictures.
