Because, well why not... it seemed the only other FCBD thread was e
X-Men: I thought this was fantastic. The Land art actually wasn't half bad, and the story was great. I came away liking Pixie quite a bit more. This was as good or better than the Spider-Man FCBD issue last year.
I also came away with Hellboy, the Top Cow 'Broken Trinity' book (which looks interesting enough), The Virgin book, The Archie book and the Bongo book.
Neither shop I went to had Atomic Robo, EC Comics or the Scrooge-verse title. I was bummed. But it wasn't as bad as missing the Peanuts book last year.
And the shop I went to was giving out Hulk Encyclopedias which was... odd. But I took one, because well... why not?
What did everyone else get?

Goddamn Land's art was distracting. I'm just so used to Skottie Young's pre-pubescent take on Pixie that this was hard to read.

I liked the new X-Men, too.
Also, new Hellboy story by Mignola/Fegredo, and a new Project: Superpowers by Alex Ross' crew.

I got Dan Dare because I'm like super gay for Garth Ennis.
I passed on Atomic Robo and now wish I didn't.

It literally takes me months to get around to reading my comics sometimes... I salute your day-of-release-reading dedication to the hobby. :(

Grabbed the Hellboy, Broken Trinity/Witchblade and X-Men books.
Saw the Superpowers one, but passed, I just wasnt interested enough, even with it being free. Pretty good turnout at my shop.

The Hellboy was a real treat! As good as anything I've paid $3.99 for.

I got nothing, since my lcs had sold out of everything but the marvel sampler by the time I got there. And I really wanted that Atomic Robo....

Me too! But I see Scott Wegener from time to time around town and shall petition him for one, which I'm hoping he will just have on him.
...I mean I DID get Atomic Robo #1 from him, so I mean, this one's actually supposed to be free!

Man, I laughed my ass off that he transformed her into a generic hot teen model. Talk about predictable.

Atomic Robo was really only one I was impressed with. Luckily I was able to check it out a few weeks ago and I went ahead and ordered the trade based off of how much I liked the fcbd issue.

I came out with a crapload of stuff - X-Men, Superman (for hubby), two Hellboys, Marvel Adventures something-or-other, a Hulk/Iron Man book, the 'How to Draw' book, and about half a dozen others. Haven't read any yet.
Also got a couple Iron Man Heroclix, a little Star Wars guy (bounty hunter), a SW promo cup thing (with some ugly thing for a lid...lol. ), a military computer game, Serenity DVD (comic shop was selling DVDs for cheap, too), and a bunch of other stuff - like TPBs for $3, and .20 cent comics.
I am pleased. :D

I got the X-men, NA Invaders preview, and the transformers for my niece.
Lands art looked rushed or maybe he used less photo referrence...not sure.
I liked the Ross sketches
My niece is digging the Transformers but I am glad these were not my Transformers.

The only one I've checked out so far is Atomic Robo, which was sick.
And I picked up Sonic the Hedgehog for some reason. I don't know why.

I read the Hellboy book and I think it failed if it was meant to attract new readers. Very new-reader unfriendly. The Hellboy story made an incredibly succinct reference to where the story falls in relation to another story, and the BPRD story is basically impenetrable if you aren't a long time fan, as far as I can tell. Seems like a gift to long-time readers more than something which Hellboy movie fans will find accessible.

FINALLY! Staff priveleges in a foreign country mean I got these over a week ago so that the date of release coincided with the ret of the world. Yay us!
Let's see: picked up All Star Superman, Amelia Rules, Bongo Free-For-All, EC Sampler, Hellboy, Jughead, Marvel Adventures Super Heroes (or whatever it's called), Owly, Salem: Queen of the Thorn Sonic the Hedgehog and the X-Men one.
The ONLY one I had any gripe with was the X-men one: how the hell did Pixie go from the cutesy little girl to the busty supermodel? Is THIS how one qualifies to be an X-man?
Other than that, good story.
- Owly: good every year
- Amelia Rules!: It's cute fun as always
- All Star: have it, but a fun read anyway
- Marvel Adventures: fun, but maybe a little too wordy for kids
- Jughead: seriously, Archie comics really embraces the FCBD concept and offer up a totally new story every time!
- Hellboy: enjoyable even though I am not a Hellboy reader
- X-men: fun one shot, good writing and art (this from an X-men hater) although as an aside, maybe should have not been tied to continuity stuff such as the Ngairia or whatever they're called.

I just got my free stuff the other day thanks to a friend holding it for me.
X-Men was alright but as usual Greg Land's art just distracts me, just seems weird to me.
Hellboy- Fantastic stories all criss-crossing with what's going on at the moment, plus the Futurama Cast as Hellboy picture= Awesome
Atomic Robo- My pick of everything I got, hands down an awesome read. I've found it hard finding 1-6 been forced to read friends copy so it was cool to finally have somthing I could take with me and use to introduce people to Atomic Robo. To me thats what FCBD seemed to be about.
