now you can enter your SS# and filing status and how many exemptions and find out when exactly you're getting your refund.

Here's the link in question;

I don't recall, but I know it's, like, a 1 or 0...more if you got dependent kids. Fuck, I just plugged my info in, and nothing's popping up. Maybe I should check www.where's-my-money-bitches.com

There's a line on your tax return about exemptions. Usually, it's 1 for each person associated in any way with the return.

I'm having a little bit of issues with it. I was checking it for my parents's rebate (they aren't as computer inclined) and first it said that it would be direct deposited today, which is odd because their refund was mailed to them. So, I checked it again, so they had something to refer to in case they needed to contact them and then it had the whole "We are sorry, but we cannot provide the status of your Stimulus payment. Please check the Payment Schedule available on our web site. " line. I don't know if they have some bugs they are still working out or what.

See, this schedule here (http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html) provides the general information. Some people won't get their stimulants until July. If your payment is not due relatively soon, there is probably a good change you are not even in the system for the specific information.

I also keep getting the "we're sorry..." message.

I filed my return in early Feb through taxbrain.com. Received my refund within 2 weeks. But according the irs calculator and the last of my social-77, I am not due to receive my stimulus until 7/17?? Is this right?

Does this "where's my stimulus payment" feature only work for those receiving it for May?

Huh. Well I received my refund directly-deposited into my bank account but via taxbrain.com's account who received it from the IRS. So technically I still fall under the 'paper check' group?

So technically I still fall under the 'paper check' group?I don't really know what taxbrain.com is. But it seems to me if your return did not have your bank's routing number and you bank account on it, you would not be considered to have received a direct deposit. The IRS has no way of transmitting funds to your account, and no way of verifying that you are still associated with this third party.

The best thing to do is to check with this website to see how their customers are being categorized.

For those getting less than $600. From the website:

Q. I received my stimulus payment, but it was less than what my friends and neighbors received. Why?

A. Your economic stimulus payment will be based on information provided on your 2007 income tax return.

Many, but not all, taxpayers qualify for the maximum basic payment of $600 for singles or $1,200 for married couples. Many parents are also receiving an additional $300 for each qualifying child, born after Dec. 31, 1990.

Your payment may be less than the maximum for one or more of the following reasons:

You are single and your net income tax liability is less than $600. If you file Form 1040 net income tax liability is the amount shown on Line 57, plus the amount on Line 52.
You are married and your net income tax liability is less than $1,200.
You are single and your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than $75,000. On Form 1040, AGI is the amount on Line 37.
You are married filing a joint return and your AGI is more than $150,000.
You owe back taxes.
You have non-tax federal debts such as unpaid student loans or child-support obligations.
Around the same time you receive your payment, you will receive a notice from the IRS explaining how your payment was figured. It is important to keep this notice as a record of your economic stimulus payment. In addition, you’ll get a separate notice if you owe back taxes or non-tax debts.

well, i'm glad that added that since it doesn't seem to work worth a damn for most people.

i put in my social, selected married-filing jointly, and put in the number exemptions and it reported that i made a mistake. i know my social was correct. i know that i filed "married-filing jointly". i know i claimed 4 exemptions. i was holding my 2007 1040a in my hand when i did it, so i know everything i entered was correct.

also, i filed electronically over 2 months ago and got my refund by direct deposit about 10 days after that.

so basically, their website sucks donkey cock; or at least this particular functionality of it.

I'm in the same boat. Ended up owing $54 on my 2007 Federal Return, and had them extract the funds electronically from my checking account. Like a number of folks, I was looking forward to an extra $600 last week (my SS ends in a '15'). Didn't happen. Tried using the 'where's my stimulus payment' application, and kept getting an error message.

Just now, I decided to call the IRS (1-800-829-1040) to find out just WTF is going on. As it turns out, they view permission to extract funds and permission to deposit funds as two completely separate entities. Therefore, I'm (supposedly) getting a paper check in the mail within the two weeks following 05/23. The line at the bank is going to be wicked fun.

Arrrgh! I want my xbox 360!!!Paper returns always take longer than electronic ones to process. Plus, older years received during the filing season may be given a lower priority. There is also the possibility of the there being some sort of freeze on the stimulus payment prior to the older years being processed. Does the schedule indicate that you should have received the stimulus already?

Also, 2007 refund; paper or wire? The older years, did you request paper or wired checks?

2007 refund was done online but I got mailed a paper check. I did it on April 15th so I'm pretty surprised it came this quickly. I was under the impression that I wouldn't get anything from 2007 until 05 and 06 were processed. Oh well, I can get groceries!

I don't really know how these online computer services work. There should be some way of paying with a goddamn credit card and getting a true direct deposit. There are people who will have to wait an extra two months for their fix here. I have to believe that there is going to be some backlash.

Yeah, I just realized today I won't be getting my stimulus payment until mid-June because TurboTax never gave me the option of filling in the "Direct Deposit" lines on my 1040 (since I wasn't entitled to a refund). I had thought it'd be deposited in the bank account I used to pay the balance of taxes I owed, but nope. I could have filled out a paper copy of my taxes, but I thought e-file would be easier.

Oh well. It's not like I had big plans for it anyway. When it comes, it comes.*
