Hi guys, I'm going to try something new and if it fails miserably, so be it. I've gotten pretty into cooking in recent months, and I like to try out a lot of new recipes and make up some of my own. I'm going to try to make these posts mostly visual, because I like food that speaks for itself. There'll be captions to each one, and I'll be happy to provide recipes for anyone interested.

This week we're looking at some Crescent recipes I made. These were all made with tubes of Crescent roll dough. I think they all turned out delicious, but keep in mind this isn't particularly healthy stuff (next week's will be, to balance this out), so these pictures are from, say, early February to now. I think a couple of them might be from last October or November, as well.

Without further ado:

This first one is just standard crescent rolls. Something simple to kick this off. They were delicious, though.

Here we have two kinds of crescents. On the left is a savory italian chicken one, with some mozzarella, breaded chicken, and italian seasonings on the inside. On the outside I put a little more mozzarella, because it crunches up well in the oven and creates a nice juxtaposition to the softness of the crescent. On the right is a hot dog sliced open, with american cheese inserted and a crescent wrapped around it. Hello, heartbreak. Literally.

Now we're getting weird. Here we have half a roll of crescent dough, flattened, topped with olive oil and freshly made roasted garlic, and then given a healthy handful of mozzarella. It was strange, but good.

This was the worst photo, I think, but the best-tasting crescent recipe. First I spread peanut butter on the inside center of the individual crescent cut-out from the roll of crescent dough. Then I put some mini marshmallows and chocolate chips in there. When it was finished cooking, I drizzled copious amounts of chocolate syrup over it. It was delicious.

These are sweet and savory crescents. On the bottom and bottom-right we have the already-described italian chicken crescents. On the sweet side of things, the crescents on the top and top-left are pear and chevre dessert crescents.

Finally, we have a simple chocolate crescent. It's just a crescent roll filled with chocolate chips. It's super-good, though.

Okay, hope you guys enjoyed this. Let me know what you thought and if you'd want to see more posts like this. Thanks!

Dude... when my wife sees this thread, she's gonna bug the frag out. She looooves playing with crescent recipes.

Two of her favorite experiments:

Salmon Crescents - Simple. Take the Pilsbury crescent tube (you know, the cardboard one that pops when you pull the lining?), and some smoked salmon (aka, lox). Tear off an appropriate sized strip of salmon, lay it on a flat crescent strip, roll it up. Rinse, repeat, bake, consume. They are a great side item to have with dinner.

And the other, slightly more ambitious one...

Apple Sausage Crescents - Take a package of breakfast sausage patties and a nice fresh Braeburn apple (because those cook nice and sweet -- if you can't get Braeburns, try Fuji, if you can't get Fuji, I hear Granny Smith are good for cooking... if you can't get those... um... cry about it). First, you cook the breakfast patties in a skillet, breaking them up so they're in clumpy fragments by the time they're done. Dice up the apple into bitesized pieces. Mix the sausage and the apples in a bowl. Portion out the mixture on the flat crescent strips. Roll, bake, enjoy.

She surprised me with these for breakfast on my birthday last year, and it was her first time making them and they were feckin' amazing.

...yeah, I'm gonna fav this thread for the next time she gets the baking bug. :p

Oh, and one other thing... Beware coldcuts.

It may SEEM like a good idea to roll some roast chicken or turkey coldcuts up in a crescent, but in actuality, they really don't taste all that good.

NW, those both sound delicious. And I'll second your coldcuts comment. I will say that they work well rolled up in that Pillsbury Italian bread, though, along with some mozzarella.

I find Crescent rolls are probably the best tasting dough-from-a-can stuff. :)

DUDE! How did I not see this thread the first time?!?!?!?!

My wife (AutumnHeart) makes the most awesome CrescentBread Pizza (you can ask Lyfeforce and Akira as they've tried it). I'm gonna have to mention this to her.

Keep this weekly series alive. Maybe I'll try something this weekend and let you know!

You do sound like a great cook. I'm too lazy to read this, but I'll save it for later. I vote regular feature.
