Oh, and Hulk #5?

 times a thousand. Easily my favorite Marvel book right now.

I'm sorry, this is ridiculous.

Marvel has to be putting out at least twice the # of regular DC books this month, and they're basically burying us with tie-ins.

I saw a ridiculous amount of good stuff, but I doubt I'll be able to buy everything that interests me. I'll say this, though - the regular suspects look phenomenal.

Another month without Marvel Adventures Iron Man? Unfortunate. Fred Van Lente was doing a kick ass job on that title.

GASP!

SQUADRON SUPREME 2, WRITTEN BY HOWARD CHAYKIN?!

Holy shit, that's fucking great.

And Cap: White...really? That's fucking fast...it should be good fun.

OOh, more Foolkiller! With art by Paul Azateca!

I didn't realize Rucka was assisting Bru on the next arc of DD! That's fucking awesome!

Kieron Gillen doing a NewUniversal book?! SWEET.

What a month!

15% is "burying"?

And I think the main difference is that with a Marvel tie-in, if you're just reading that book, you're fine. Chances are if you're reading She-Hulk you won't see "to be continued in Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four!" at the end of the book. Marvel tie-ins are very easy to ignore if you don't have the cash or just want to read your normal pull list. The only books I'm adding to my pull because they tie into SI are the new Black Panther arc and the Young Avengers/Runaways mini.

I really dont see why they couldnt just combine the Spider-Man:Brand New Day Extra Special into the actual, you know, Spider-Man series. Especially when it's written and drawn by creators that are the actual Amazing Spider-Man creative team these days.

That was one of the things that struck me as ridiculous this month.

It's virtually a weekly. This is as bad as the Countdown "Search for Ray Palmer" spin-offs.

Yeah, as much As I liked the fresh air that BND brought to AMS, I can't support essentially a weekly book. I always said I'd trade wait after reading each writer's initial arc, and I'm glad I decided this.

The plan has been to not solicit issues until they have enough already finished. Moore has scripted 3 or 4, Ramos has finished 2 issues. They'll probably be solicited for September after the SI mini is done.

Man, Marvel's showcasing of their solicits is kind of a mess. Glad we've got Newsarama to sort through it all for us.

Also glad to finally see some Werewolf by Night action in Moon Knight. :)

And an SC of JMS' Thor.

What does Counter X mean? I never read X-Force at the time, is it worth picking up a trade?

Warren Ellis took over the tangential X-Men books (X-Force, X-Man, amongst others) in early 2000's? Maybe late 90's?

From what i remember, it was X-Force, X-Man, and Generation X. It involved a lot of trenchcoats.

I remember Gen-X sucking, but X-Force & X-Man being pretty decent (even though X-Man got taken over by another writer after just a few issues).

At the very least, X-Force has Pete Wisdom in it which makes it worth a read. Not Ellis' best work, but definitely still readable and entertaining.

So does Counter X indicate that they were outside continuity or something? Or that they existed in the same "imprint" or whatever as Mutant X?

COUNTER X was just an imprint; the books remained in continuity. Warren Ellis took over plotmaster duties for X-FORCE, X-MAN, and GENERATION X, with Brian Wood, Steven Grant, and Ian Edington scripting. He remained for eight issues on each title, and then each writer had complete control over each book for the remaining five issues.

X-MAN and GENERATION X were exceptional. X-FORCE was okay.

MUTANT X had nothing to do with the imprint.

Issue #28 had a zombie variant cover, hence the spike. Nonetheless, this is a very steep drop, and bad news. Either RUNAWAYS is suffering badly from the delays, or the audience for Joss Whedon writing some lesser-known Marvel characters is much less than you might have thought.

I love Marvel comics. So many quality drawn books. The investment mostly pays for itself when the art is at least good.

Some great new Phil Jimenez art is always a plus.

Not liking the dick tease in Captain America.

Oooh...Captain America: White is coming sooner than I was thinking. Also gets an issue #0.

That Eternals cover is incredible. This series is one to watch! I'm starting to believe that the Knauffs are off Iron-Man.

Thor vs Red Hulk!!!

Skaar is one that I can't wait for now. Greg Pak kinda got shafted after a great Hulk run, but maybe he and Ron Garney, doing career best work, can make this series a big hit.

Loving the Alan Davis covers.

LOVE that Coipel Thor cover!

I doubt I'll pick up that Squadron Supreme.

Old Man Logan looks great.

Why has Adam Pollina's return been so hush hush by Marvel and messageboards?

I am a bit disappointed in the classic collections this month. I already have the first 4 part Waid/Garney Captain America in TPB. I would have rather seen Gruenwald's Cap No More, which has never been released, or some of the Dematties and Zeck stuff, or the Jurgens stuff. If something was going to get put back in print, Streets of Poison and the Bloodstone Hunt are better.

I'm also surprised that no Iron-Man collections about Obadiah Stane have been released. The collections department has done great as of late, though.

Really? All his recently released covers look crazy rushed.

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed they have a Madame Masque arc coming up, but who knows after that.

Yeah, as much As I liked the fresh air that BND brought to AMS, I can't support essentially a weekly book. I always said I'd trade wait after reading each writer's initial arc, and I'm glad I decided this.

I got mine through marvel's subscription service.

36 issues mailed to my home for 49.97!!! (that is a saving of over 57 bucks!!!) (it breaks down to $1.39/per issue.)

I am very happy.

What's Alphona doing then? He seemed like he'd be great on that book...

Please god let that Hellcat series be satirical, otherwise I want to know what the Marvel execs were smoking.

It not being satirical wouldn't be the strangest thing Marvel's ever done. :)

Kathy Immonen's Hellcat story in Marvel Comics Presents was done with tongue firmly in cheek. And it was a lot of fun. I'm assuming this is more of the same.

I have the subscription as well, but thus far the only creative team I havent really liked is Bob Gale, whose first story was just far too old-school for my tastes. It wasnt horrible and had some nice Phil Jiminez artwork, but the story was just "blah" really.

But I understand where your coming from, if I didnt have the subscription I would likely do the same.

In hindsight I actually like the Gale issues more than I thought I did.

Right now my plan is to keep getting all of them til the big Slott/JrJr arc. I might start picking and choosing a little more after that if I'm feeling like I can do so without missing too much story.

I thought the Gale arc started out rough, but slowly got better. Again, I didnt think it was BAD, just really, really average and a step down from the previous arcs by Slott and Guggenheim. I think my biggest problem with that arc was the fact it kinda shifted it's focus from Peter and his relationships to just a straight up super hero story with Spider-Man.

I do worry about missing part of the story which is why I am hoping all the arcs will continue to be at least solid.

Great stuff coming. Captain America: White. Squadron Supreme, finally. Ennis' Punisher ends. Plus I didn't realize things like Avengers/Invaders, 1985 and Old Man Logan would already be going so soon.

That's actually been my problem with the current arc. Doesn't feel like BND to me.

Nope. I meant the hardcover collecting the rest of McKeevers run. I knew this about Alphona. Not as excited for that, seeing as I haven't had the chance to finish reading what McKeever did on the book.

I know who is drawing it, at least the first part of it, but can't say. Great choice, IMHO. More fitting with the style of the book than Alphona's style. The artist is working on it now, so it should be out relatively soon.
