Obviously, all most all of us are Marvel Comics fans. Buying these comics ultimately led you to becoming a Bowen Designs collector. I'd like to share what Marvel Comics & other Marvel things shaped my Bowen collector mentality. I hope all of you will share pics as well. That means you too, Mr. Bowen!

This was my first comic! My Dad bought it off the rack in 1974 at 7-11 for me. Subsequently, I would bug the crap out of him for sporadic issues of Marvel Double Feature, featuring Captain America & Iron Man. As you can see, this issue features The Super Adaptoid!

This is the book that changed my life forever! This is perhaps the 1st Marvel Trade-Paperback! I used to sit in Walden Books in the mall & read this over & over again as a lil' kid!

The follow-up to "Origins!"
I just purchased Bowen statues on my own. No "comic(s) led me to this branch of collecting.

The Incredible Hulk TV movie led me to this issue....
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u163/JasonZ2/MARVEL%20History/f277d56e.gif
I was in freakin' love! The Incredible Hulk quickly became my favorite super hero! I had to track down all his current appearances! That TV movie garnered a lot of interest in the Hulk & the Marvel marketing boys put him in every title they could!....
The big crossover with my 1st "love"... Cap!

then there was the 3 part Iron Man arc! Thanks to The Incredible Hulk TV movie, I was sucked into buying Hulk, Cap, and Iron Man every month for most of my life! Who says marketing doesn't work? Hulk was the "Wolverine" or "Venom" before they became Marvel's sales gimmick! I was introduced to so many of my future & on the horizon Bowens through the Hulk comic book!

A back-issue! I didn't even know comic book stores existed! Boy, was Dad in trouble! Every Saturday I BEGGED him to take me to the now-defunct Eldorado Comics on Westfield Ave in Pennsauken, NJ to get 1 or 2 old Sal Buscema Hulks! Dad was very strict on my spending money on comics! I was only allowed to buy 3 monthlies & had to save my allowance for back issues.

When I was a kid growing up in Myrtle Beach, SC, I fell in love with comics and comic book heroes. Because I didn't have alot of money I figured my best bet was to buy the comics that had the most heroes. I ended up buying Avengers from Marvel and Justice League from DC. I can't believe in hindsight that I actually purchased Avengers #1 off the rack along with many, many other early issues - sadly, they all disappeared when I enlisted in the Air Force during the Viet Nam war. My favorite heroes were Captain America and Hawkeye so, over time, I pretty much quit buying DC comics.
I moved away from comics when I went into the military and only recently started reading them again but when I walked past a comic store here in Calgary and saw the original Thor statue I just had to have it and the rest is history. I guess it was just karma that Bowen Designs was the first statue I bought. Now I hardly buy anything else.

Honestly I don't remember....probably some Avenger titles in the 80's. I started collecting comics seriously while I was in middle school. I pretty much grabbed anything that had Marvel on it.
I stopped collecting in the early 90's but started getting back into some titles lately like Captain America, Daredevil & the Thunderbolts.
I primarily focus on Bowen statues & bust so comics are on the backburner.

I got into comics late I think I was 21 at the time and my mom went to a yard sale and bought a bunch of comics for me marvel and dc but I had always been into the cartoons so I kind of new a lot of characters. Then one day my cousin introduced me to secret wars and onslaught and I was just blown away with the stories and started surfing ebay to find comics and came across a bowen statue so I started looking into online stores where I found what I was looking for my first bowen statue.
