I'm going to use this thread to post various shots I take. I'll continue my Chronological Bowen Collection pics in another thread. I appreciate tips & comments. All pics are taken with my Canon XTi with either the stock EFS 18-55mm or my EFS 60mm macro.

This shot was a pain! I must have taken 100 pics! The trouble is the sun was too high, which cast shadows. I was forced to shoot at a higher exposure so we could see his eyes. This was taken with the 60mm macro lens. I will post a lower exposure shot as well, so you can see the richer, blue sky.

Great shots Al
Outdoors in the sun like that you should think about using the flash
it will help fill in the shadows. but it might be a little too harsh,
they make these flash diffusers for like 12 bucks, they work great for onboard flashes. another thing you can do, is if your using a tripod hold a piece of tissue over the flash, it does the same thing. (1 layer)

try it out see how it works, I love seeing other folks statue pics

hey good idea with the tissue paper!

Al, a trick i sometimes use is putting something white underneath the statue (not shiny mind you) and that will reflect up just some soft light to fill in the harsh shadows.

I've said it before and i'll say it again . . I think this is a great shot! The contrast of the yellow against the background, as well as the gradation of the background, .. . very nice :D

I was taking family photos tonight & used the tissue over the flash. It worked out great!
