Just took a closer look and his teeth look too straight. I'm not overly knowledgeable of the character but in most of the pictures I've seen of him his teeth are nowhere near being so dentally perfect. Even the picture behind the bust shows the teeth all messed up. Not meant to be a criticism, just an observation.

Mangog, or "The Mangog" as it originally referred to itself, is the sum total of the hatred of a billion billion beings that were once killed by the ruler of Asgard and the Norse Gods, Odin. Imprisoned deep beneath Asgard, Mangog is accidentally freed by the Rock Troll Ulik, and goes on to wage war against Odin and the other Norse Gods on several occasions. Mangog proves to be physically unstoppable, and is usually only defeated by exploiting Mangog's dependence on psychic energies (such as hatred, fear, or feelings of devotion) felt by other sentient beings to sustain itself. Without such a source, Mangog shrinks to near nothingness.

While usually acting independently, Mangog also assists the Titan Thanos in a quest for universal domination, but is ultimately stopped by the Thunder God Thor. Thor eventually ends the threat of Mangog entirely: having inherited the Odin Force, Thor simply dissolves an attacking Mangog with a wave of his hand. Mangog, like all the Asgardian monsters, has not been seen since the destruction of Asgard.

All I did was a little cut and paste.

I have to once again say how awesome this is turning out to be.
I am blown away.

I do however realize what bothers me slightly about this. I can't quite see it because of the angle of the pics,...but the lips,...
It seems like the upper lip is a bit on the small side and takes the shape of a human lip. (like an M) Whereas the pics of Kriby's art clearly shows that his mouth is wider,..goes all the way across the face, and certainly does not take the M shape of a human lip.

Helder,..randy, any thoughts on this?

Well Look, Please, I'm not trying to be a pain here. This Bust is absolutely fantastic. I"ve wanted a Mangog bust or FS really, really badly and this blows me away.

However,...I just think that for a piece this great it deserves to be accurate.
I can't really see it from the pic but it looks like the lips on the bust are wrong. From classic Kirby (which is what really counts)
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m207/rome_011/155-18.jpg
to modern depictions,
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m207/rome_011/21-1.jpg
..Mangog's mouth has no shape to it.
his upper lip is flat across his face ( I'm looking at my latest rb Hulk mb and he has the same kind of mouth).
I'm not explaining what I mean very well. I just feel that the shape of the lips isn't accurate. It's to narrow at the top...... it detracts from him just a bit.
http://i31.tinypic.com/i5oy86.jpg[/
Ok I think I got a way to explain better. do you see how the bridge of the lips in the bust is about the same width as the nose? well compare that to the drawing and you will see that a) there is no such bridge, and b) his upper lip is much wider than his nose.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
can it be fixed?

Appreciate your perspective...I agree that scale is extremely important. However, not sure if you got the point I was trying to make. The trend seems to be in making large characters recently...thus larger characters will be attached w/ a larger price tag. With all the large characters, there's a chance it could establish a new price standard. What I'm afraid of, and based purely off speculation, that even when smaller characters are made, they will be still at the new higher price as established by the recent sneaked big MBs. So unless everybody here is rolling in the dough, I was wondering who else here is concerned about new price standards that may be set as a result of the large MBs...

No. I think that's a smart decision. As awesome as he looks, I don't know him, so I won't be ordering. I think there's a very small market for this one. Limit it to 500 & make it a collector's piece!

Just remember... Thor is a "darling" now, but his back issues rot in the bin with Conan. It's good business to limit it. People who want it will get it & those who see it will probably want it. Let the market drive the price on this very limited collectible.

Strength of sculpt is what's going to power sales of this character. I don't think I've ever read a comic with Mangog in it, but I'm buying this bust. I believe there will be many, many people like me who will buy this monster.

500 will sell out quickly because of how great the sculpt is, PLUS because of the people who will buy it ONLY because it's a small run. Why would Randy not want to make money for himself? Why leave money on the table for the secondary market flippers? Also, isn't it more costly to make smaller runs?

Shame on you dEnny go back and do your homework.

I'm more a Spider-Man/Daredevil kind of guy. BRING ON THE BAD GUYS!

I was watching Spider-Man 2 today with my son and I'm thinking...where's the Doc Ock full size statue??? He's much more deserving than others I've heard requested or even Black Knight if you ask me.

No, I wouldn't think so. You just want to make sure you have a better shot at getting one if it is limited to 500...I know your game. ;)

Randy already confirmed Doc Octopus for this phase , and some other Spidey foes as Electro,Kraven,Sandman...and maybe Vulture too, Hobgoblin would be a dream :surrend:

A part of me would like it if he sculpted them in a way where you can set them up as if they are appearing to attack Spidey.

It's amazing that we are getting this for completely two different reasons. You are buying on the power of the sculpt while I'm buying more about the character but you must admit this is an amazing piece.

Randy,

Now that some (most??) of us have received the Iron Man Hulkbuster (for those that ordered) and can batter appreciate exactly how big that bust is . . . any chance of seeing Mangog WIP next to IM HB or perhaps Dragon Man????

Anxious to add this one to the collection . . . just trying to figure out how many more shelves I'll need (especially considering the size of some of the recent and upcoming busts).

Thanks . . . .

HB Iron man is HUGE, and from what I remember Mangog mb is supposed to be bigger.
I cannot wait for this bad boy (though I do hope the mouth was changed).
Please show us some updated sneaks.

If the mb turns out to be a success I wonder if Randy would consider doing a fs Mangog at about 20" high? Just a thought.:D

That would be awesome , but only can happen on next phase , this one is totally covered , but....if Phase 5 exist maybe we can see some Thor enemies to complete the asgardians in FS as Mangog and Ulik (Ulik will be busted this phase i belive)....even Desak ?

Desak is a god killer created by the future self of Thor girl or the better known as the Designate. He could absorb god energy thus making him almost impossible to defeat. Here is a few pics of him in action getting beat by the Destroyer.

i would think there would be hope for that to happen. it seems like bd collectors like massive statues,...(hence Wendigo) and it doesn't get more massive than MANGOG.
it think the mb bust will really create more of a demand for this character.
Once people see it they will want it.
helder did such a great job.

Most heroes and villians are smaller than the Destroyer. I'll try and find some pics of Romita but IMO the best rendition is Walt Simonson.

I just wanted to ask How is that Randy knows who MANGOG is but not who the starting lineup of the NEW MUTANTS are or who MAJIK is.

I mean MANGOG was created after the year 2000

the new mutants were a late 80's creation.

I always thought Randy was a classic guy, but he's more modern then he realizes
