View Full Version : God, I hate Brubaker and Rucka!

Friggin' Rucka and Brubaker... damn! I finally sit down and read all the Gotham Central trades, and if I didn't already hate Brubaker enough for what he's doing on Captain America and Criminal and Daredevil (great great great); and if I didn't already despise Rucka for his fantastic Atticus Kodiak novels and one of my all-time favorites, Whiteout (which brought me back into comics, by the way -- the awesome Frank Miller cover on the trade didn't hurt, either -- I hate Frank Miller, too); now I plant my ass down and read some of the best cops-in-comics stories ever (Gotham Central) and am forced to HATE these guys even more.

It's just not fair, I tell ya. Can't you guys -- Bru, Rucka... and Bendis (I hate him, too. And that Millar guy for that friggin' Wolverine: Enemy of the State tpb I can never get enough of. And BKV for his great books and cool initials) -- just screw up a little bit and give us little guys in the industry a chance to take over? Damn it all!

Seriously, anyone who hasn't checked out the Gotham Central trades needs to do themselves a favor and pick up all of them ASAP. Great stories, great art, great comic books. You fans will love them... and you aspiring writers will join me in my absolute hatred for Bru, Rucka, and the rest of the Comics Axis of Evil who are hogging up all the fame and fortune.

(Okay, enough from me -- I need to go read my Scalped trades for the hundredth time. I'm really starting to hate that uber-talented Jason Aaron, too!)

i have to admit it was when i first started smoking and reading comics as a regular thing.. but i went back and read it later as well.. and goddamn if it isn't one of the most intense stories i've ever read.. loved it.. I still tell people to check it out

What a weird way to compliment those guys. And on that note, FUCK Brubaker for writing Sleeper. I am glad it got canceled so I can never read more of it's greatness.

Yep, I was pimpin' all right -- just not my stuff this time.

And I absolutely agree with the comment about Sleeper in an earlier post -- yet another reason to hate Brubaker. :)

(I'm gonna have to read those trades again, soon, too.)

I just read soft targets last month. Made me want to kill a bitch. Named Brubaker and/or Rucka.

Sleeper is one of the all time Fuck You Brubakers ever.

Did that entire universe get a reboot or something? I don't know shit about Wildstorm other than what is in Sleeper.

And I don't want an Absolute version of it. I would rather have the equivalent of the Marvel OHC.

It was supposed to be rebooted after the Captain Atom mini there a few years ago. Then we had the Morrison and crew stuff that never went anywhere. I guess Deathblow and Gen13 are still going from that.


It was at one time my favorite comic universe. Now the Ultimate Universe is better.
