Red Wolf MB sketch looks freakin fantastic. Although, I think it may need changed. Just the base though.
Correct me if I'm wrong. The base looks to me like a totem poll. And totem polls are located on the Northwest Coast of America. Red Wolf is Cheyenne. Not from the Northwest Coast.
What do you think?

I think the segment of the Bowen audience that would A) know that and B) be so bothered by it that it would keep them from buying is very, very small. The totem pole is evocative of Native American culture and conveys the proper tone for the piece.

I can appreciate your wanting to be PC on this matter. However, I agree w. Iron Fist. The Totem Pole really does it for me. It sets the bust apart from all of the rest. The base can be just as important as the sculpt resting on top of it :)

The one thing that I would like for Randy to consider changing on this piece is the angle of the head ... the downward facing head makes for limited display opportunities, especially when you consider that most of the face is already covered by the wolf cowl.

Actually, I would prefer a Lobo wolf base, much like the Ka-Zar/Zabu MB.

I think I didn't know that, man I suck.
Bowen IS from the Northwest Coast though, maybe that's why he gave it some totem pole love.

Amen!
The sketch looks AMAZING (and I absolutely love love LOVE the character!), but the last thing I want is another Attuma bust, where if it's not displayed on the top shelf, you get a lovely shot of the top of his head.
The Red Wolf MB looks great the way it is !

Good Point and I have to agree the base shouldn't have a character conflict but compliment.
Maybe this is a way to get Lobo into the sculpt by having him "carved" into the base or use a pattern or incorporate some buffalo element or a combo design

You know, I hadn't thougt about the totem poll base but I did notice it when I first saw the picture posted. I've always been for historical accuracy when it comes to either a bust or statue and have to agree with Tattoo-X, the totem pole is unique to the native Indians from the upper northwest (British Columbia, Canada) and has absolutely nothing to do with the Cheyenne. Using a totem pole base for a Cheyenne Indian would be like using a "Lone Star" base under a character from New York. I'm no expert on the Cheyenne, but there must be some sort of base that would be more historically accurate.
I will withdraw my opinion and objection if anyone here can post a picture of Red Wolf anywhere near a totem pole.

I do get where yer comin from, but come on, the bust looks great as a concept drawing an the totem pole is a fantastic base idea.
For those that are a fan of Red Wolf, they should just be happy they are getting a mini bust of him in the first place, imo. I will buy it only IF the totem pole stays.

Hey, I'll probably buy it too it's just that it is not historically accurate. I hope I'm not offending any Chyenne by saying this but wouldn't a war drum base have been just as interesting? Who's the native character who is/was part of Alpha Flight? He would have looked great on the totem base.
