Yes, I have, but not painted and that's what I was referring to, but I was starting to wonder if they were going to be painted and released or put on the back burner since it has been so long with no mention or sneak of them. They are the 3 I am most looking forward too. That and a FS Mojo you mentioned wanting to do, which I know is definitely on the backburner until when and if the contract gets an extension. I do hope you will still do him if that happens since the bust of him will be missing all of his key features. Anyway, good to know they're still apart of this phase. I'll keep checking back for that magical day they are sneaked painted.

And just for the record, we haven't seen the final tweaked sculpt of Mojo yet. We saw the revised, and awesome I might add, head of Mr. Sinister and Sauron without a base, but Mojo needed work to his jawline in the initial sneak that you said was being done, and we never saw the end results of those tweaks. I'm hoping he looks amazing.

The phase goes to March 2010. Averaging 2 a month - there should be around 24 more FS that could be put up. There's probably a small handful of stuff we haven't seen, but not much if you look at the sneaks page.

According to the Marvel Universe Database, Thor is 6' 6" tall while Odin is 6' 9" tall. Hey Al,

If I remember correctly, I thought Phase IV started from April 2008. But Marvel didn't extend Randy's Marvel contract until late Dec last year(?) and that was what stopping Randy from making statues at the factory for 6 months because he wasn't sure either Marvel will approve or not. In my opinion, Randy did what he could and he submitted the Marvel contract renewal 7-8 months ahead to Marvel. Marvel just took a long long time to reply back.

I hope Marvel will extend Randy's phase IV and maybe phase V after? :lol:

this is a great relief. i'm still holding out hope that there will be a good representation of the Marvel ladies this Phase. After the great news about Mark Newman sculpting the White Queen, are you able to comment at all on Valkyrie, Psylocke, Wasp, Hela, & Mystique fs statues and/or mb's for Jubilee, X-23, Satana, Firestar, Mockingbird, or the Enchantress?

I very much hope that the above MAJOR female characters are still slated for this Phase.

We're all hoping for an extension / phase 5, BUT if it doesn't happen what about this -- You end the phase with a "Sinister 6 pack" -- which is actually a 4 pack of FS statues (Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, and Vulture -- Mysterio and Kraven having already come out)

IMO, these guys (and Antman) are the biggest holes in the very impressive Bowen gallery, and if they are on the list and you find you won't be continuing with Marvel, why not just put them out?

I'm hoping, as we all are that you just keep moving on with Marvel making wonderful statues, but one comment I do get when people see my collection is "Where's Doc Ock?"

BTW, this is not a complaint, the statues you're putting out this phase are tremendous. This is just a thought if the marvel contract doesn't continue.

Just wanted to say great job with this phase so far Randy! Every statue is better then the last and the quality/character selection is phenomenal. Best phase to date!

I meant Al, not you BH. I wasn't saying it in a mean spirit, just kind of teasing Al, because he takes almost every opportunity to say that he doesn't want a Gladiator Imperial Guard FS, and with all the "grails" that he wants, I try to remind him that there are others, "like me", who have their own want list and that they have the right to lobby for their favorites, just like he does.

True but i wonder how many phases randy could keep on sculpting. At some point the marvel characters will dry up. But still one phase a least should be done. And after that i wouldn't mind seeing Randy sculpt some of the DC, vertigo characters and even a couple of darkhorse characters.

Yeah CT, I have been waiting for the new FF statues since Phase III. I just won a FF triple bust set from ebay. I have to give a thumbs up to Randy's beautiful works on those little guys. Essentially this means that Bowen Designs "lost" 6 months off the time they paid for the rights to design, manufacture, & sell the statues. They probably couldn't legally start working till the contract was fully executed. :blah:

What they're after now, as I understand it, is to get Marvel to "forgive" that initial lost period & to push the end-date for the Phase back six months, so they can indeed produce everything they'd planned to this Phase. Currently there's not enough time left before that end-date to design, produce, and release everything that had been "confirmed." :blah:

Bowen is contractually obligated to produce/release a certain number of statues/busts in each contracted "Phase," (those are the rights they pay for) regardless of how long it takes to design them, hence the early rush of "kitted" statues (Crimson Dynamo) or what folks have called "re-paints" (Storm), in place of from-scratch statues/busts that take longer to design, manufacture, & get released. :blah:

CORRECT! i supposse..:)
BowenDesigns have the possibility to rise up the quantity of statues/busts released per month to try to accomplish with the major part of the "confirmed" characters reducing to the minimun the characters that left out.
Lastly we are seeing 2 or even more statues per month on BD page and same for busts , so i think this "speed up" release thing has began.

I think Randy did his best to max the list already, dude. If he produces too many characters and the factory can't push them out before Phase IV contract ends. Those pieces will then be expired and cannot be released - meaning losing money for BD!

At the actual releasing quote it can be something about 12 statues and maybe 18 busts... But maybe this releasing quote is already speed up to put the maximun quantity of products on the street, don't know...

It was re-sculpted in a smaller scale. Except in the case of the Hulk mini statue. That one never existed as a full-size.

2. Of the sculpts you have had other people do, which one(s) came out even better than you hoped for? I know you don't want to praise one over another, I'm just curious if there was a Marvel character that you considered uninteresting at first but after seeng the sculpt reconsidered.

3. Did the public reaction, for good or bad, ever surprise you on any of the characters? Speed of sell-through? Online praise, detraction?

Not in person, but I know legal docs could take a long time from my work exp. And I can understand an account manager could be a bottle neck as well sometimes. Maybe BD is a small pond to Marvel. But collecting Bowens means a lot to me and to many of the fellows here.

totally, 100%--i'm ravaging ebay as i type! while i'm sure the extended delay probably isn't malicious on the part of Marvel (hey, money's money), some folks at my company have had dealings w/ them over licensing issues (publishing) & do say they can be difficult. anymore, licensing has gone so big-time, what w/ Marvel producing their own theatrical features . . .

but that Super-Skrull's too dang amazing for the extension not to happen--can't leave the White Queen hanging!

I was out of the loop when Hard Hero and Diamond Select lost their licenses with Marvel. What happened with these two? They both did some nice work. Losing BD would be a real bummer and devastating to me as a collector.
