I received my monthly box o' comics a week or so ago and in my shipment I had two books by board member Mike Choi - the "Witchblade - With Hunt" trade paperback and Uncanny X-Men #495.

WOW.

What an evolution.

Not that Mike's early work was bad by any stretch of the imagination but he really went from that Silvestri-lite / Top Cow house style into his own amazing thing. Great stuff. Granted a lot of credit needs to go to colorist Sonia Oback...but damn! It's quite an evolutionary leap for just a few short years!

Mike - I really hope you stay on Uncanny!

I subscribe to Creationism, so technically he hasn't evolved. He just creates really nice art.

Yeah, its good stuff.

The collabritave (sp?) relationship with Sonia is amazing, and really different than a lot of the stuff you see out there.

If I remember correctly, Mr. Choi only does the line art, and Sonia does all the shading and coloring. Its makes for a noticebly different look than a lot of the stuff that is out there.

I love it, and so does my girlfriend, who normally doesn't appreciate mainstream comic art. She usually only like painted stuff and Gaydos.
