I don't know who writes the tag lines for the covers of DC Comics (well I like to think I have an idea), but they need to be stopped. Just do the pure comic art cover without the cornball leads. They're just terrible.

I had way too many Teen Titans people refusing the first issue of this mini for my liking. I think the art may just be too abstract for what Titans fans may be accustomed to.

Oddly enough, I like Damion Scott's art, but not enough to endure a Marv Wolfman comic written this millennium.

I'm not criticising them for trying to go for the emo market (whatever that may be), I'm just laughing at how transparent their efforts are. I mean it's one thing to make this comic and maybe get some pre-release buzz and/or cover blurbs of praise from emo artists, or to get some shelf space in Hot Topic, but to come out and say "finally in her own emo series" is the kind of pandering that makes it seem that DC doesn't care enough to even feign authenticity or genuine desire to produce a product aimed at the market in question. It's like they're trying to turn Raven into Poochy and are being about as subtle as those producers were.

Yeah DC is the only company to pander to the readers and put fourth lackluster efforts in the hopes of drawing in new target audiences.

I thought they ruined the Aquaman series, when San Diego fell into the sea, by naming this serious storyline "AMERICAN TIDAL." I just thought.... wow. I really think the titles should marry the actual story and not rely on Bullwinkle puns.

Its a ridiculously flubbed attempt to seem cool and relevant.

I think that there is a fundamental misunderstanding of what "emo" actually is. I don't claim to understand what it is and I think that the term might actually be going through some kind of transition right now.

i think emo's in the same place punk was in the early 80s. there's a fundamental schism within the community itself that seems firmly based in an "old guard" vs "new guard" mentality. and the mainstream is identifying the new guard as the sole representative and co-opting accordingly.

I'm sure people have said the same thing about Iron Fist, Starman, Animal Man, etc.

A good solo series is all about a right creative team with a passion for the character, not the inherit "interesting" factor of the character (such a thing doesn't really exist).
