He pulled The Rundown from mediocre to worthwhile on the strength of his Tooth Fairy speech alone.

Brian Defferding

Phillip Seymour Hoffman

Ewan MacGregor

Kevin Spacey

Nick Nolte (c'mon, he was a fucking blast to watch in the Hulk)

Some could argue that Walken is even better in mediocre movies.

Also see that god-awful ping pong movie and the remake of The Stepford Wives.

Well, don't "see" them actually, but you know what I mean.

It's Walken, that's it.

If you fast forward through every scene he's not in, Envy is an awesome movie.

I have to oppose Kevin Spacey on the list because of K-PAX.

Christopher Walken is the obvious answer to this question. Other than him I'd have to go with Steve Buscemi, Gene Hackman, Kurt Russell, Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman

Michael Caine was the first name to pop into my head. He is a great actor but, yea gods, he has been in some stinkers over the years. But he still manages to do at least a pretty good job even in really bad movies.

Robert Downey Jr.

I forgot to mention him...he's always fantastic regardless of what he's in or in some cases what he's on...

Add Denzel Washington to those. In fact, bad movies become good movies for the mere fact that he stars in them.

ian mckellen. He made X3 go from poor to average in my mind, and he completely saved Da Vinci code since good ole Tom Hanks decided to phone in his role.
