Just heard "Mother Mary" on the radio. Pretty good shit. This whole mystique thing (whether or not it's Green Day), is pretty cool, too.

If it is Green Day, I must admit, after 4 years out of the spotlight, they grabbed my attention again.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'm interested enough to try to find out... :mistrust:

Apparently they're a side project from Green Day, but the truth is, no one really knows. The voice sounds like Billy Joe, and the rumor is, they're playing "garage style" shows, but it's all kind of a mystery. Kinda cool.

They are like the Strokes if the Strokes rhythm section sucked.

Between this and Billy Joe running around with Pinhead Gunpowder he's pretty busy with side projects these days.

They won their Grammy for album of the year just 2 years ago. They did a lot of touring in 2005 too. I wouldn't say they have ever been out of the spotlight, really.

Their last album came out in 2004. I'd say that qualifies. They released maybe 2 singles in that time span.

Well, yes, it was released 4 years ago, but tours and Grammy wins into 2006 hardly qualifies as being out of the spotlight. Their songs were in heavy rotation for a long time too. So let me get this straight, once an artist or band releases their album they immediately cease to be in the spotlight? That's kind of silly.

BUT, that little bit aside it's cool. I've always been a fan of theirs since I have my own little connection to the band and have met BJA a few times personally. I know nothing of this new side project, but then again I don't really keep up much when they're out of the spotlight. :)

You need to wake up and smell the pop radio. American Idiot dropped fall 2004, but it's big hit singles (Holiday, Boulevard, September) didn't really hit the radio until 2005, charting well into 2006. They then released singles for The Saints are Coming, Working Class Hero and The Simpsons Theme--none of which were hits, but they've been releasing music through last summer.

I think that album is what really soured me on the radio. A lot of Green Day's songs were ruined.

Better than most of the shit that gets overplayed on the radio. Solution? Turn off the radio.

I started buying CDs more often at that point.

They did a couple reunion shows or something in their old stamping grounds around Berkley and I think a couple in LA or something.

A friend of mine went and said it was rad except for the a-holes who kept shouting out requests for Green Day songs.
