A while back, I sent up a thread asking everyone to compare iTunes against Napster, as I'm looking into options for legal music downloading. I've ran across a few second-stringers in my quest, such as Rhapsody, and I was wondering if you've had any experience with these and whether or not you would recommend any of them, or if you could shoot some I haven't heard of my way.

Some criteria: I'm not looking for p2p programs, semi-legal Russian MP3 stores, or anything that smacks of piracy. I'm also looking for something that allows, upon purchase, music files to be imported for the broadest range of use (burned to CDs, uploaded to any number of players, etc.) without the fear of losing those files should I let my subscription lapse.

Does such a thing exist, or are the cold-meds deluding me into thinking such a solution exists?

What is this LEGAL you speak of?
