View Full Version : What stories should be collected into an Omnibus or Essential?
What stories do you think should be collected in an Omnibus/Essential that has not?
I nominate the Joe Kelly Deadpool series.

Seconded.
I'd also vote for Peyer/Morales Hourman series.

Fuck Essentials...I want Omnibus editions of all these:
Stern's Amazing Spider-man
Stern's Avengers
Simonson's Thor
Byrne's FF
Byrne's Alpha Flight
Continue omnibussing Claremont's Uncanny X-men
Claremont/Sienkiewicz New Mutants
Basically everything I read as a kid...
Oh and the original run of What if?

That is a solid list. I forgot a big one. Oversized hardcover or Omnibus version of Busiek and Bagley Thunderbolts. I need to get that to go with my Avenger's Assemble series.
How about Absolute of Waid Flash.

They're trading the Kelly Deadpool now, which I think is probably the best we'll get.
It's almost a shame the Hudlin Black Panther run didn't take off and become a smash hit, because that'd maybe have inspired them to go back and collect the Priest issues. Maybe Junta will be a breakout star in Defenders and The Crew will become a massively indemand trade.

If they reprinted Priest's BP anybody left who doesn't realize it yet (ds9), will immediately discover how lousy Hudlin's BP is.

Priest's Black Panther.
That's all I want. Thanks in advance, Marvel!

I agree with that. It seems hudlin is not sure how to write comics. His first arc showed that he may not have read comics before.
I bought a lot of the old issues at cons and shops of the old Black Panther. I love the idea of him joining the Avengers to spy on him.

Well, I do believe he's a huge comics fan, but he is most assuredly not a comics writer. He is a comedy writer, which doesn't necessarily lend itself to action political intrigue. Plus, he isn't even as funny as Priest. Hudlin's Black Panther has had a handful of decent issues which I'm concinved were ghost written by Dwayne McDuffie.

A chronological reprinting of Hellblazer without any skipping around would be great.

You know those comics got better after the wedding leading into Civil War. I think that with parameters to work within, he was able to arrange better stories. The start was rough, but it did improve.

Captain Marvel should be out in Essential
I AM GROOT!
02-21-2008, 07:16 AM
Guardians of the Galaxy (especially with the new series coming out)
Avengers West Coast (I always thought this series was fun, especially the earlier issues)
ROM (I know that Marvel doesn't have the rights to this, but I can still dream)
Web of Spider-Man (it's Spider-Man, so why not?)
Captain Marvel (original series plus Genis' series - actually, there is an Essential coming out for Mar-Vell in June, so the rest is definitely possible now)

Johns' Flash. Good book. It was the only superhero book I cared to read for a long time. Johns and Scott Kolins killed on that book.

As I've never read it I can't speak of it's quality.
Honestly, though, multi volume Omnibi/Absolutes turn me off. I'd rather have the trades or the more manageable OHCs from Marvel.

all i ask for is more Amazing spiderman volumes:
Vol. 2 - (Lee/Romita part 1), Issues 39-75, plus whatever annuals that covers.
The first chunk of the Romita Sr. goodness, covering some doc ock stuff, mary jane's first real appearances, the Kingpin's first few stories, ending with the Tablet of youth arc.
Vol. 3, (Lee/Romita part 2) Issues 76-111, plus annuals - End of Lee's run. Death of Captain Stacy. Bunch of other forgettable stuff. Great art though.
vol 4, 5, .... I want the whole series weighing down my shelf. Do it!
