View Full Version : Another Ms Marvel extension!!!!
You, the people have spoken, and by the grace of God almighty Marvel has listened... As Spidey616 has testified in an earlier thread: "Things are getting Skrully" here on the message board, and that is a good thing because I've just been informed that the Skrull story arc on Ms Marvel will be extended a bit further than they had previously reckoned, and that means I'm staying on the book another 2 issues at least! So far the Secret Invasion has been pretty good to me.

I think so.

My last issue of Ms Marvel was supposed to be issue #25, due to sagging sales mainly and also they were thinking about doing a creative change with the interior team. As I realized i was going to be jobless soon, i put out some feelers for a new project. I had actually mentioned that I'd like to be involved on the Secret Invasion (never been involved in any of Marvel's "event" books before so I thought this would be a good time to ask). Unfortunately, everything had been spoken for at this point, so nothing was assigned to me immediately. But, it just so happened that my last Ms Marvel cover (#25) WAS going to be a Secret Invasion cover--or at least PRE-invasion. Then Wacker said as long as there is this Skrull story arc going on, i might as well do all of em...which extended my run on the book two issues to 27. So I thought that was officially the last one until Steve informed me that the story arc was extended another two issues to #29. They just can't stand to get rid of me--that's what it is. Anyway, the Ms Marvel as a Skrull cover was a big hit at the editorial meeting and i think that is when they dreamed up this special internet Skrull project for me.

Hey Greg, do you happen to read the books you draw covers for, in particular She-Hulk Volume 2 #3/100? Because if you did, there's a little event up for grabs courtesy of Mr. Dan 'the Fan' Slott called......just look at my sig.....oh ok:
:announce:THE RECKONING WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, sure there's no official news on this, but Dan says its GONNA happen, so I'm hoping for a 2009 or 2010 release. I'm sure it'd give you a chance for some class creazy She-Hulk covers :D

Interesting. Marvel can't let you go of that title.
I just realized that a lot of your work goes on books that are kind of B-level women characters, and not really huge sellers. For instance, Elektra, She-Hulk, that blond X-babe, and Ms. Marvel. I just found that to be an odd trend. Is it because you specialize in drawing hot women and those titles are just not huge sellers or something?
I am trying to remember, did you do the covers of Wolverine during the Rucka Volume 2 era? My mind is drawing a blank right now.

She has a name. It's.........................sorry Greg :(
KIDDING!!!!!!! It's Emma Frost, Cyclops' current significant other :D
I think whatever Marvel character Greg does is great, and glad he's doing all these Skrull covers. I hope Skrull becomes the new Zombie, and we get variant Skrull covers done by....ARTHUR SUYDAM!.....or Greg Horn ;)
No, you are right. I've never done cover art on a book with sustained sales, but that is mainly because the female hero titles I work on are a tough sell over an extended period of time. Most of these books have to be cancelled in their 20's or 30's... I can't think of a female-lead book that lasted 100 issues...Spider-girl maybe? They are just a much tougher sell over the long haul than Marvel's icons like Spider-man, Hulk, Iron Man, etc. I did crack the the top 20 once when Elektra #1 came out (way back in 2001!)

I remember Elektra being a really cool book there for a couple arcs. That is probably where I first remember seeing your art.
Since you have the female comic touch of death, you need to stay away from Spidergirl! ;)

Thats' when I first noticed both Elektra and Greg. Those covers made me a fan of both!
Hey Thomas, How far are you from Essen?

Roughly 240 miles. 3 hours or so by train, I think. Is there a con coming up that I forgot about?

Oh, right. Never been to a German show since I don't work in the German market. I'll see how the schedule is later this year and might be there.
