I really want to read the Great Darkness Saga. But it's not avaliable in trade.

It has been traded a number of times, including within the last few years. You should buy it in singles, though, because the trades are all jumpy and skip a bunch of stuff. Also, just start with the first issue of Levitz's second run, because that's where it gets awesome.

This is good news. His Batman: Confidential run is atrocious, but this current arc is great.

I just started the first 2 issues of his Batman: Confidential arc with the "origin" of the Joker. Obviously this book isn't in continuity, right? So what differentiates this book from Legends of the Dark Knight??

And would anyone be interested in reading a in-continuity Batman book set in his early, early days - with him just developing his toys and methodology? His first encounters with his rogues...and then interlaced with Times Past stories with his training. I think it would be interesting if done right.

Only if it was an "Ultimate Batman" style story, with free reign. I'm not really interested in a book of flashbacks.

And I believe the Joker story is considered canon now.

I think the Ray is in his early 20's. He was like 19 when he appeared in Young Justice. Plus, he's in Freedom Fighters.

I'll second Shining Knight, Klarion, Warlock's Daughter, and Zatara. If you wanted to do a magic-centric arc, they could work really well.

There's a fifty-fifty chance that Spoiler could qualify for this. :) If she is indeed alive, I always thought it sucked that she never got the chance to join Young Justice. This could be rectified.

Also, if you can think of something to do with the YJ girls, you will be my hero.

what about Zattana's sidekick from seven soldiers?

Also, Mary was pretty cool as well, and the Red Robin character is starting to grow on me.

It's only getting better. I still don't like Countdown(the entire Brother Eye story bores me to tears, and I'm just waiting for someone to actually comment about those people Mary turned into FUCKING TREES!), but a lot of the DCU is getting fun again, and Final Crisis looks like 20 kinds of awesome.

And since then, I've gone back and read just about every single x-book (there's a few pre X-Men 94 that I haven't read). It's tough to say what my favorite era is. There is so much good stuff during Claremont's 17 year run, including the excellent New Mutants and Excalibur series that he launched.

The era with Scott and Madelyne that you're at is a good one. Drawn by Paul Smith, I think? That's right around the time that Romita Jr. jumps on the book and I  that era.

Dazzler can be painful at times to read.

And there've been a few...last one i read was Spidey and Kitty teaming up against an underground group. Not the Morlocks.

I don't remember off hand which title this is...but there were a few in which Beast got his fur and all. Some Avengers issues included if they have anything to do with the X-Men.

Not trying to turn this into an X thread, but those of you chatting about it- do you like the new Scott? I hate what he is doing- X-Force was garbage and it looks like that's the approach with Young X too. Turning them into killers.
I really love how Whedon and Carey write him.

How so? He's trying to stop a terrorist group that killed 40 KIDS from their school, and SHIELD seems oblivious to what's happening.

Somebody's gotta stop 'em, and he's not turning anybody into killers. Logan, X, and Warpath have killed before, and we haven't seen Rahne do anything yet.

Foggy took the words right out of my mouth. It doesn't seem like something a Hero would do. I'd rather have Emma running it.

For all you X-Men fans out there...how long have you been reading and what would you say is the best era of the books??

I've started only in the last year or so...but from the ground up...reading the X-Men Chronology from the CD. I'm currently in the 1984 era...with Scott having recently married Madelyne. And yes...I've been reading all the Dazzler issues too...

My first ever issue..of anything!

http://image.milehighcomics.com/istore/images/fullsize/97792366288.222.GIF

Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri was a great run and looking back it had tons of change. Professor X - Gone, the original 5 - off forming X-Factor but then it all comes back together brilliantly in 1990/1991 when some dude named Jim Lee jumps on and they all re-unite.

Uncanny X-Men # 268-277 are some of my absolute favorite comics ever.

I really like Busiek's original idea for Trinity a million times more.

I thought it'd be good to have a really cheap weekly book, one that had a lead story that would have lots off big, fun, important stuff happen, so readers would want to follow it regularly, but which would also have other features, promoting whatever would be on the stands the next week, or would show you advance art to a new series, a checklist of upcoming stuff -- all the kind of thing that used to make me think about DC as a whole line of books, and think about reading more of it, but with more space than the one page the Daily Planet had, back when.

So what I pitched was a 12-page weekly comic for a buck, called DC Superstars, featuring a 7-page lead story with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, and backup stuff promoting the rest of the line. It'd be a third of a monthly book for a third of the price, so it'd be easy to just grab at the cash register and go, every week, and it'd have modern-day readers getting the kind of news and information I used to get about the whole DC line, as well. The lead stories would be big stuff -- Superman discovers a third Kryptonian living on Earth, Queen Hippolyta gets resurrected, Rao gets reincarnated in human form, Batman faces a new business competitor for Wayne Enterprises that brings major super-menaces to Gotham -- and there'd be lots of guest-stars, so it'd be cool stuff to read, and hopefully it'd win more readers to the rest of DC's line, too

I would've totally been in for a $1 12 page comic with a bunch of house ads at the back.

I never thought he was that bad, personally. That first arc smelled simply like someone not knowing how to write a character he's never written before.

But going to any message board, you should be able to see just how many Cass Cain fans they are, and exactly how they feel about Beechen.

Rucka >>> Beechen.

Is he perfect, no, no writer is. I have faults at times with Moore, Ellis, Bendis, Brubaker, Morrison... Okay, I take that back, BKV is perfect, but he's the exception to the rule.

and Batwoman is barely even a character because she hasn't had the space to develop. It's fucking retarded when a new character is introduced and people are bitching about how they aren't good characters or are barely characters when they've been in so little. Give the character soime time to develop before bitching.

Hey Everyone,

I'm home from the hospital after my micro diskscectomy to remove my L5/S1 herniation that pressed on my sciatic nerve.

I am completely pain free in my left glut, where the sciatic pain manifested itself, sometimes crippling me.

I now only have pain and stiffness from the incision where the surgeon performed the procedure.

I'm feeling pretty decent, walking around, eating, walking up and down stairs, etc. It's going to be a sore couple of weeks of recovery, but I can tell you without a doubt that this pain feels 100 times better than the pain I had!

ALSO! I would like to shout out to Kari, as a nurse, because I now have such a better appreciation for the compassion and patience you must have for your patients. Nurses are awesome. Especially the two cute ones that took care of me.
