Because I liked the first issue a lot, but loathed this one. It's basically Goddamn Hulk at this point.

Exactly. And we're not truly Bizarros, cuz I loved the first issue too.

Seriously, I am stunned by how much I love this Hulk book. I had forgotten how big of a man-crush I have on McGuinness.

there's a LOT of potential in this Hulk book.
once we figure out who the new Hulk is, Marvel's going to need him to SMASH the HELL out of a lot of people.
get his SMASH cred up.
teh new Abomination'll be a good start.
but then he'll need ta fight Thing, Sentry, the Avengers, Hercules, Blob (god, seeing Blob fight this guy would be EPIC) Wendigo...hell, bring back the Mole man and Have Hulk smash the inhabitants of Monster Island.

After reading this and Ultimates 3, I'm wondering if Loeb has somehow been fused with Garth Ennis.

I love Ed McGuinness and i feel this may be his finest work to date and i highly enjoyed the first issue as well but that second ish was hella weak and i've never been fond of mysteries in comics so i have my doubts the Red Hulk identity reveal will work for me.

Now Incredible Hercules!

That's a kick-ass book.

let the Green Hulk take over Hulk or something.
Hercules should stay.

The first Proof trade will be out. I've been buying singles, and it's probably the best damn comic to debut in the last 6ish months. In a nutshell, it's Bigfoot working for the X-Files, but there's so much more and the art is gorgeous.
People are missing out.
But then, why try something new when you can keep buying the Flash to see if it can't possibly get any worse.

Proof is fan-fucking-tastic.

Master Jack Rabbitt
02-20-2008, 04:05 PM
Yeah, but for the most part it's a different dynamic. Generally, it falls apart because no one seems to know how to write kid superheroes.

One of my favorite Image books in a while, actually.

I'm being nice....:mistrust:

I'm just pointing out that his argument doesn't work. When you have three top-tier writers who want to write a character, you let them, and work things around that. There's no way that a new JMS Superman title doesn't debut in the top 15, for one thing. 10 if it has a good artist.

Like I said, if they're worried about flooding the market, they should start by cutting Confidential and let ASS end naturally when Morrison wants it to.
I was joking.

I don't see how anyone could not enjoy this:

I just read Hulk 2. I... I'm not sure how I feel about it, tbh. On one hand, it was fun. On the other, some of that dialogue was quite bad, which made me laugh, adding to the fun. I have no clue how I feel about the ending.

I may be alone, but I still like it. Sure, if Wally was a bad dad everyone would like it. No one likes to read about a good dad superhero who loves his family.

Ok. To be fair...the water squid villains did suck. But it's an average comic...not shitty...not good. Better than Supergirl though...which is the suckiest DC comic I had been buying. Wait...Countdown is the suckiest...Supergirl is the second suckiest.

I don't know if you've seen my posts in the other thread, but the Hindenberg moment was what made it official in my mind that Loeb is going for dumb fun on purpose for once.

Granted, it still has dialogue issues, but for once I will forgive Loeb for them.

It's a God awful small affair
To the girl with the mousey hair,
But her mummy is yelling, "No!"
And her daddy has told her to go,
But her friend is no where to be seen.
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seats with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen,
But the film is sadd'ning bore
For she's lived it ten times or more.
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on

Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall.
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go.
It's the freakiest show.
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy.
Oh man!
Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show.
Is there life on Mars?

It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow.
Now the workers have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again.
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads.
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns,
But the film is a sadd'ning bore
'Cause I wrote it ten times or more.
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on

Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall.

Reviews!

Batman And The Outsiders Vol 2 #4 Oh that Green Arrow. He’s so unpredictable!

Birds Of Prey #115 Why is Oracle always hanging around in a sports bra? That seems weird to me. Put a shirt on!

Brave And The Bold Vol 3 #10 Silent Knight? That’s a new one on me. I’m still completely enjoying all these Aqualad appearances. Little fishy dude is all over the place.

Checkmate Vol 2 #23 Superman shows these black ops chumps how to get stuff done!

Countdown To Final Crisis #10 Mary gets the lightning back. Finally! So is Apocolypse becoming that tyrant sun thing from DC One Million or what?

Death Of The New Gods #6 I hoped it would be a character I actually care about, not some dude that looks like my old economics teacher.

Flash Vol 2 #237 I think I’m the only one, but I’m enjoying the West family. It’s nice to see a couple of good loving parents and their kids. It’s kind of sweet.

Justice League Of America Vol 2 #18 This book needs a big change. This is the Justice League, there is no reason it shouldn’t be one of the best books on the stands, but here we have a decent idea (bad guys claiming asylum) but it just turns into another fight that’s supposed to convince us that Vixen is cool.

Shadowpact #22 I don’t get this book. You start off with a bunch of characters I really like, and now another one is leaving the team. Why? It’s not like we’re going to have a Nightmaster solo book any time soon. It ain’t broke!

Spirit Vol 6 #14 Fun, I liked the art, but I miss the other creative team already.

Superman Batman #46 Lots of fun. You take colored kryptonite, add some JLA babies… I’m in.

Superman Confidential #12 I liked this a whole lot. Wonderful art, and a really classic Superman story. I need a book like this every now and then. (“Great Scott!” and “Great Caesar’s Ghost” are a part of my comic book needs)

Wonder Girl #6 A fun book, I think it would have been better if it wasn’t tied into all the Countdown weirdness. (But it had Stompa!)

Waid/Kitson made some of the worst, most boring comics I've ever read. In just two issues (actually, after the first), Shooter has salvaged the whole concept and made it one of my favorite comics right now.

I can't attest to Waid/Kitson, although I like Waid and Kitson; I just love what Shooters doing with them. It's fresh and needs no background to enjoy. Plus, no waiting for something to happen. One of his demands at Marvel was that the audience needs payoff, and he's going to deliver that.

I like Waid and Kitson, but their Legion was abyssmal.

Taking a decade off comics seems to have helped Shooter immensely. The book is so exciting now.

Shadowpact #22 I don’t get this book. You start off with a bunch of characters I really like, and now another one is leaving the team. Why? It’s not like we’re going to have a Nightmaster solo book any time soon. It ain’t broke!

This issue, as promised, brings a new type of Kryptonite into the picture, an extremely rare amulet made out of Kryptonian ore. And the effects...well, it has to be seen to be believed. Superman starts seeing the world in cartoons, for one thing. And more importantly, it reverts his mind back to the state of a child, leaving him in a state with no responsibilities and no concept of what his powers can do.

It was Kryptonian weed. I'm astonished that DC allowed to publish a Supes comics with Superman on drugs.

In other Ragman news, when I was a kid I really loved Kevin Costner's Robin Hood and had all the toys from that. When I got into comics a year or so later I started collecting the DC Universe trading cards and Ragman was one of them. I didn't know anything about him, but he fascinated me, so I made a mask out of an old sock, threw it on my Kevin Costner Robin Hood figure, and played with him as Ragman.

Interesting side note, the Kevin Costner Robin Hood figure's body used the same mold as the Super Powers Green Arrow figure. His belt even had a G on it!

I don't know if you could pull this off, but the very top of my list would be Stargirl. I've always loved the character, and she feels more real than most teen heroes. She'd also bring stability and experience to the team, and this rookie-heavy squad could use it.

I fully recommend this. And much like with Jaime, his book could use the help that comes with a high-profile team. I only worry that his tactics don't exactly mesh with the team, what with the head-choppy.

I think the Ray is in his early 20's. He was like 19 when he appeared in Young Justice. Plus, he's in Freedom Fighters.

I'll second Shining Knight, Klarion, Warlock's Daughter, and Zatara. If you wanted to do a magic-centric arc, they could work really well.

There's a fifty-fifty chance that Spoiler could qualify for this. :) If she is indeed alive, I always thought it sucked that she never got the chance to join Young Justice. This could be rectified.

Also, if you can think of something to do with the YJ girls, you will be my hero.

I don't know if you could pull this off, but the very top of my list would be Stargirl. I've always loved the character, and she feels more real than most teen heroes. She'd also bring stability and experience to the team, and this rookie-heavy squad could use it.

It would also be cool if you could "borrow" Misfit from Birds of Prey once you leave that book, part time at least.

Making Jaime Reyes a full-timer is mandatory, of course. :D

No. No Misfit.

Black Alice could be a good addition, though.

I bought that today. It contains ZERO extras what-so-ever unless you consider the covers extras.

So 6 issues all told.

Zachary Zatara seems like he could have some interesting stories
Supergirl fit well too, I thought.
Young Frankenstein would be cool.
Tracy 13
Warlock's Daughter seems to fit the sidekick role
are the Wonder Twins teens?
Shining Knight
seeing DC use the new Terra wouldn't suck either...
Talon could be funny, if only to see what an Earth-3 Robin could do
MasYMenos

...and somehow...Lil' Lobo

those are my thoughts.

The new Terra would be great!!

The only thing about Zatara is...and Zatanna for that matter...aren't they pretty much omnipotent??? Is there anything they can't do?? What are their power limits?

No...she really doesn't seem to fit in with the team mentality. I'd rather if this is Stephanie Brown, that Dixon gets sole use of her in Robin and build her character up more. Plus, she doesn't really provide anything different. Teen Titans need more firepower.

Zatara was one of the better ones, but he was kind of a tool. He made for good reading in how douchey he was, but I'm not sure he's what the team needs. The last thing they need is more division.

Firepower is the LAST of the Teen Titans' concerns.

Even with Supergirl gone(BOOOOOOO!!!!!), they've still got a demi-god, a white martian, a guy with magical demon powers, and a guy whose weapons may make him potentially the most powerful character in the DCU once he knows how to use them.

I'm not sure if Anarky is right for this version of the Titans, but someone needs to do something with him.

Yeah, he's always walked this fine line between good and evil. I definitely couldn't see him joining this version of the team(the only way that would work is if he got in on the ground level of a team, and had influence in it.), but the Titans need some more foils. I'm really amazed he's never been used, either in Titans East or the Terror Titans.
