I wouldn't place too much stock in LITG, especially considering that Van Sciver already shot one hole in that little story of Johnston's.

Any guesses who the three DC creators going Marvel exclusive are? We know Dodson will be one.
I think it would be a fairly safe bet to say Mark Waid is coming back to Marvel.
They got rid of him for a reason.
He was the archetypal perfect alpha-male hero, and he got stale.
Fuck you Fanboy Ray.
I loved what Jones did with the GL book. That was a great period and it was a fantastic idea to rotate the spotlight among the GLs. It was also during that same period that we had the great-but-short-lived Mosaic series.
Mosaic was a very smart, interesting and unique idea. But there was not enough action for the average comic book reader , plus it starred John Stewart who definitely wouldn't sell well back then.
I don't think Ray reads comics from back then. That's why he doesn't like Hal.

I'm not going to it. Kinda too much of a high school thing.
High school dances, and formals outside of high school are completely different things, And yeah, it's a bit corny, but maybe, foir once in your life, if you actually put yourself out there, you would learn a thing or two.

The second Mon-el has a better costume
feh, I've never been a big fan of stars on a costume.
I think it works for Starman and Donna Troy. But not anyone else really.
Man, Alan Moore did such amazing things for DC by doing the smallest stories. I mean, who would've thought that some of the backup stories he did would matter years later.

Issue 4: Never seen this Kree guy before. Another issue that was just kind of...there
Issue 5: Oh bloody hell more Skrull's, they should have t-shirts or something.
the Illuminati itself is such a damn good idea and I just feel its kind of been wasted here. each of the issues had an interesting premise (Kick some Skrull butt, Dealing with the Infinity Gauntlet, Dealing with the Beyonder, Drafting a new Captain Marvel, more Skrull stuff) but I just thought it was all kind of wasted in transit.
Also some of the dialogue was so Bendisised. I hate the way in the middle of a long speech every character goes 'listen' and/or 'see what I'm saying'
Gahhhhhhhhhh!

The DCU Megathread: Now with preview art!
I hate saying this but I think Sale wants to be at Marvel NOW.
Don't know why no DC writer can't come up with a decent mini to do with Sale. Boggles my mind really. Maybe Sale just likes work with Loeb and that's it.
In the Loeb report he says he's not happy
Probably similar reasons as to why Mike Wieringo was speaking of going to DC once his contract was up before he passed away

Glenn can not like Morrison, and I'm sorry that he doesn't because I think he's missing some amazing comics, but he doesn't and that's that. Conversely he could say the same because I'd rather read Mother, Come Home than a Question mini or Spider Man story.

Okay fair enough but comments like 'he must not like good things' is silly because whats good to me and whats good to you is different and you know what? That's fine
In another thread I go here I've been (for lack of a better term) bullied by a poster because I dared shared a different view from him and I will not allow that here.
I don't like the writer and you do. I'm not bashing him as a person because I don't know him as a person. There are writers I enjoy which have insulted me personally but I manage to keep the wall between the person and the creator separate.
I'm sick of doing 40 rounds whenever somebody goes 'Oh god you don't like Grant Morrison what's wrong with you?' There's nothing wrong with me I'm allowed my own thoughts and view. If that's wrong to you then I don't care because at the end of the day the only person I have to make happy is myself. I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself and will not be spoken to in a manner of rudeness just because I don't like someone you do (I'm not saying you were rude I'm just making a point)
Jason is an awesome guy. I respect him and I like him a great deal. His view of comics and my view of comics differ 90% of the time. Never once, not once has he insulted me for this. Never. That's why he is a great guy and that is why he is my friend. I really, really wish more people on this board could just be a little more like him.
That's all I have to say on the subject.

Allright peeps. If you want to read some of the plot/description/dialogue for this Legion story I think I have in me, at your pleasure. Feel free to tell me I have no grasp on these characters and that it's a lame story.
"Xenophobia"
A story in four parts
by Jason Hissong
PART ONE:
Plot (with snippets of dialogue)
We open with an exterior establishing shot of the United Planet Senate building on Metropolis, Earth. It's day in the summer or almost fall. People mill about the plaza. They're eating, walking, talking. Playing with pets, shopping. This is a building that's located in the middle of a metropolitan park, it's natural that people are about. We cut to inside the United Panets Senate Hall and the Senate is clearly in session. Recent events (that we can show via flashback). with the Coluan government have sparked irritation and mal-content among the United Planets' population. The Coluans, using their superior intellects, have taken an approach of isolationism and hording technological advancements. This isolationist policy is going to ripple feathers the wrong way- especially on planets like Winath that don't have that type of technological advancements, and whose infrastructure and economy are based on agriculture. Or on Ventura, who's economy is based on gaming and tourism, who need the Coluan's technology to innovate and move forward with technology. Anyway, back to our story: Senator Wazzo (Phantom Girl's Mom) has the floor on this particular day, in this particular meeting and she's screaming at the Coluan delegates for their current policies. We cut to outside of the senate chamber, in a public area of the building and see a throng of people, but we're focused on one central individual, alone, and another approaching him from behind. A female. The male is obviously a Khundian and the female a Naltorian. We end this page with the two conferring that everything is in place. The final image is of the Khundian pressing a button on a hand held device.
Page two has two panels and they're exactly the same, a similar, but larger, exterior shot of the United Planets Senate building. There's a giant explosion tearing the building to pieces in the second panel. The people in the park change from their normal lives to one of panick, shock, confusion, and terror. The next page shows the utter confusion of the situation both inside and out. The unkown fear and panick visibly strewn across the page and the faces of the inhabitants of this world. We end the last panel of the page on the bottom right hand corner and someone speaking, whispering, in a last gasp before the reality sets in, "We need someone . . . who can . . . help."
Page four cuts to the Legion Headquarters and we see a bunch of things in the first panel. First, our team leader Cosmic boy front and center, directing traffic. His right hand man Brainiac is behind him, clearly attached and connected to the computer infrastructure surrounding them. Thing of the tech like in Minority Report. The kind of hovering in space tech. The replay of the explosion is on constant newsfeed as a disembodied voice explains the situation. Cosmic Boy is springing into action and yet he has immediately put on his general's hat and has a calmed, strong, definite tone to his words. A bit of dialogue:
C.B.: All Legionaires report to headquarters immediately. We have a severe crisis situation at the U. P. Senate. Brainy, any leads on who's behind this?
Brainy: Nothing yet but I'm currently processing five leads. Most probably suspects are the Coluan Isolationists or the Khunds, given their propensity of armament build up as of late. I'm dispatching half the team currently in deep space to each planet.
C.B.: Keep working. Let me know when you have someting tangible. Broadcasting to all Legionaires: I need an Emergency Response team on the scene NOW! Saturn Girl, Element Lad, Ultra Boy and Mon. . . Where's Mon?
Brainiac: Currently orbiting the sun . . . Currently on scene. (This page or series of pages is going to work best with a series of small panels. Not necessarily a panel per person per exchange, but we need to see just how fast Mon El is. So we open the page with him orbiting the sun and zoom in on that in subsequent panels. We need to see him on the sun during Brainiac's first part of the last dialogue and then not on the sun during the elipses and at the scene during the second half of the dialogue. This guy is the equivalent of Superman, after all.)
Page five we see the Emergency Response team on scene. Saturn Girl is trying to control/suppress the panic while Mon and Ultra Boy are trying to provide support/melting steal, etc to the infrastructure to prevent collapse and more devestation. There's an exchange between Cosmic Boy and Element lad about radiation levels and Element Lad says that they are indeed hi and he doesn't know if he can transmute it to non-threatening levels. Comic boy says to try and give it his best, because that's what Legionaires do. We have a couple of more pages of this rescue operation, including a scene between Saturn Girl and another woman trapped in the rubble.
If not showing Cosmic Boy and Brainiac on page, we can show their speach through various coloured caption boxes. And that's what we should have here when we cut to a different group of Legionaires in space, as previously mentioned. This is a very specific group, though: Timberwolf, Phantom Girl, Light Lass, Shadow Lass, and Wildfire. Clearly Light Lass is out of place as she has a more buyont personality than the rest of this gang, but this is the majority of the Legion Doom Patrol Squad- a Legion Espionage squad willing to do the undercover dirty work. A small, fast, team. It's Brainiac's brain child and Light Lass is about to learn something she never knew about her Legion teammates. They're willing to cross the line and cover it up from the rest of the team. Brainiac deliberately sends this team to Khundia in the above referenced split team in space because he doesn't want them going to his own homeworld.

Pff. Everyone knows a bird delivers babies.
Great art though
A great deal of that illuminati series was a great big continuity circle jerk, the likes of which we usually see from DC, and usually involving Johns. That's not to say it was bad, just that it was steeped in continuity, and not necessarily good or even well liked continuity.

I concur.
I really lean to it being Kelly, Pfeifer, or Meltzer.
Pfeifer seems likely. Milligan and Orstander are also good guesses.
I don't think I've ever purchased an action figure.
I haven't purchased any as an adult.
He would certainly be more awesome that way.
That's one character I would like to see grow up a little and explore just how useful his powers can be, instead of just turning into rhinos and hitting things.
It looked like Johns was heading in that direction with Beast Boy before OYL.

I'm beginning to think that it might be Diggle.
If it is, I hope he replaces Bru on Uncanny.
That seems a logical one as well.
But it's not Morrison/Simone/Johns/Robinson. I'd lay cash money American on that.
Same here.
So, anyone else have trouble accessing the board for the past four hours or so?
I couldn't go on using IE, but on AOL it worked fine.
I wouldn't mind seeing Sale working with Brubaker/Bendis or other Marvel writers while he's at it:)
given my enojoyment of Loeb's current writing, I would prefer it.

Yeah, and on top of that she seems to really get Huntress. Didn't you guys not like a previous run of her's or something?
Quoted to read later.

Damn skippy I can't
Plus I could write overly complicated 'I'm smarter than you' drivel but I bet I wouldn't be praised like Grant Morrison is
that insulting to both Morrison and his fans, of which I include myself.
I now feel justified in saying that you just don't get Morrison.
I don't know. A-Bomb was hilarious.
I thought A-bomb was stupid, not who a-bomb was, or that there's a new abomination, just the A-bomb thing. I also thought it was really bad storytelling that the issue 1 cliffhanger is not even addressed in the slightest.

Arkham Asylum was my first ever Graphic Novel or whatever you would call it. I remember saving up all my monies from my newspaper route in order to buy it. Personally, I loved it and read it over and over. It's not your typical Batman story...but deep in psychobabble. Morrison is definitely not for everyone, I couldn't get past the first issue of Seaguy...and I have yet to get past the first TPB of The Invisibles. I loved his JLA and current Batman though. Hit or miss...not everyone can hit it out of the park each and every time.

Doesn't sound like a villain? This is a guy who wants to not just kill heroes, but actually eradicate the idea of them!
He's going to basically wage a campaign of terror across the DCU for an entire summer, making personal strikes on heroes, their lives, and their secret identities.
Well I didn't realize all that. I've gotten up to issue #11 in plots for my Valentine idea. I plan on starting to write them once I get up to 12.
