Hey everybody,
I went to the dentist last week to get 14 teeth worked on. I opted for "sedation dentistry". I hate getting those painful shots in the gums... and then i can't keep my mouth open for the 4 hours of work involved anyway...so i would have had to break it up into 2 trips...or maybe even 3 trips to the dentist! So, i decided to let them konk me out. They gave me a pill the morning of the surgery, and i don't even remember going up the elevator to the office! Betsy says i called her and told her i was going to open up a "women's store". Don't ask me what the hell that means because i don't even remember making the phone call!!!! I just hope the dentist didn't take advantage of me... just before i blacked out he said "hmmm boy, you shure gotta pretty mouth." :scared:

Hey Greg, did you ever see that Seinfeld episode where Jerry is having his teeth worked and sedated and he briefly sees his dentist adjust his shirt :D ;)

Yup, I've got some interesting dental stories of my own too. Did you have your wisdom teeth removed yet, or are you lucky enough to avoid surgery. I wasn't....

I hate the shots too. They never seem to work well enough once the drilling begins. I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed when I was 18. :)

Was Dueling Banjos playing in the background?

I didn't want you guys to think I was crazy, but yes-- Dueling Banjos was playing in the background and I kept hearing a pig squealing. It was really weird.

I never saw that episode, but i have had my wisdom teeth removed. I remember dreading it for about 5 years because everybody was telling me how bad it was and how my jaws would puff up like a chipmunk. But, when i finally went and did it, it didn't hurt at all! Then I felt like an idiot for putting it off for so long...
The worst thing about having your wisdom teeth pulled is the holes that are left afterwards. Everything you eat gets stuck in there--it's nasty! Luckily they close up after a few months.

Hey Clint, if you ever have to go in for dental work again, you should search for a sedation dentist. I highly recommend it... go to sleep, and wake up with your teeth done! You take a pill about an hour before surgery which really knocks you off your ass...then for the actual surgery you can opt for sedation pills or an IV. The IV costs a lot more, so it is probably better to go with the pills. My only worry was that i would say something embarrasing in my sleep...my wife says I say weird stuff in my sleep and then she bops me with a pillow and i shut up.

I hate that. Sometimes it is such an uncomfortable feeling.

I went to a dentist once that tried to convince me that it's all imagined pain! The pain you feel after the shots is your brain trying to convince you it should hurt!

There's all the weird stuff they are trying now like low level electrical currents being passed through the gums which numbs all the nerve endings by interrupting their connection with the brain! Personally I think it's all propaganda by the dental establishment to save money and push up their profit margins
