Geoff Johns drops a hint on Newsarama (in an article about his re-upping his exclusive):

NRAMA: With this new contract, will this be exclusively writing, or will you be taking a “consulting editor” role, something similar to what Grant Morrison, Mark Waid, and you did previously?

GJ: I’m focused on the writing. I offer suggestions and discuss ideas and brainstorm, of course, but I am focused on the titles I write. I have been since 52 ended. I’m getting into the center of the storm with Grant later this year too.

And with the new writer coming in on Superman, too – I have a great relationship with him, he’s one of my favorite writers of all time, and I’m psyched about moving things forward between Superman and Action. There’s a third writer we’re talking to that I’m hoping will be involved in this Superman explosion we’re cooking up. I want to bring the same level of excitement to the books that was there when I was a kid.

So who could it be?

One of his fellow 52 writers? Maybe Mark Waid, he did leave Flash recently and is still working on Brave and the Bold.

Maybe Grant Morrison, but he already has his own Superman title.

Giffen? He might be too busy with his other commitments at DC though.

Jeff Katz his co-writer on Booster Gold?

As for the third writer mentioned I'm thinking Fabian Niceza. He co-wrote some issues with Busiek so I'm thinking him.

I think it's Nicieza, but that would be a lot of hype for that.

I think the third writer is Alex Ross, who might take on some story duties like he did with JSA. Johns seems to love working with him, especially if they're going for something big and iconic for Superman this year.

James Robinson?

That would make me very happy. And I forgot that Robinson co-wrote Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #0 with Johns.

Did they start Hawkman's latest series together or was that Robinson and Goyer?

I think Robinson and Johns restarted JSA.

Johns/Robinson and Rags started that great Hawkman run.Graymiotti and others took the ball and ran with it giving us a solid 45 issue Hawkman run!

This news is a bit of a bummer though,I'd love to see Geoff write some stuff for Marvel.

I like the idea of James Robinson. His Supes story in Starman was very well done.

I really don't think there'd be hype for Nicieza, he did Superman not too long ago (Granted, I think they were fill-ins), and there wasn't much fanfare.

That's not a knock on the man, as I love his writing. I've picked up a few of the Legion issues of Superman and am really digging it thus far, despite knowing next to nothing about this version of the Legion. I'd be willing to check out some Superman by Nicieza too.

While I'd love to see Robinson on this (and I know he had something in the pipeline this year), I thought he had said fairly recently that he didn't want to do another monthly gig again (unless this is only a finite run). Still, I would rather he did something with the Golden Age characters again.

This makes me very very happy.

And why is Don Rickles doing the pose from Action Comics #1?

As for Gregory *gives him a tootsie roll*, have some candy. You deserve it.

James Robinson!? Wow, where's he been? Hmmm... him and Johns on Superman. On paper, that sounds like a must-buy set of comics.
