View Full Version : Beer Tuesday As I Knew It Is Dead.

For about the last two years, myself and two other friends would meet up Tuesday nights down the pub for a light drink, some talking, a little bit of gambling, and just a general fun time. Over time, others joined us in this pilgrimage. We christened it Beer Tuesday, and it was a glorious thing.
However, last week, the two other founders moved away together to become housemates. They haven't moved miles away, but they've moved far enough away that getting to out local is now very difficult. And, today, I rang round the other people who would come out for Beer Tuesday with us, and none of them are interested.
So, it would appear that, after two years, Beer Tuesday as I knew it is dead.
I'm sad.
And at a loose fucking end...

Well, it's a good thing you quit drinking... oh, that's right. You didn't actually go through with it.

I never said I was quitting. I just said I was going to try and get it back under control. Which I have done. I was not in a good place a few months ago. But fuck it. I'm still young, so I can make mistakes, as long as I learn from them,. And I have. Took me a while, though, I'll admit.

There you go.
I have so many strange black out drunk stories from college but looking back I don't regret them too much because now I've learned that it's not fun to get that drunk. I doubt I'll ever quit drinking but now I avoid falling off roof tops and the like. ;)

I still miss my old bar back home. They closed down to become a microbrewery, and it took away my weekly trivia contests with my buddies. That closing began the end of our assemblies.

Drinking on work nights is generally a bad idea, I think.

Why aren't you having sex with your girlfriend instead?

Technofear, I'm curious about something. Exactly how much do you drink? I myself drink most days out of the week, one or two beers usually.
I'm sorry about your loss.

Depends how much. It doesn't sound like he was getting hammered.

It's only one or two. It's really just a social gathering more than anything.

On Beer Tuesady, usually about three Guinnesses, or four single-measure Jack & Cokes.

I wish. I hate the fact that she lives so far away fom me.
now I'm depressed about that. Saturday cannot get here fast enough.

Yeah, that's not bad at all. I go out about once a week with a friend and do the same, except it's not Guinness.

My going out days are usually Tuesday and Friday. The weekend is usually up in the air with regards to what I do, but these two days were my "definites."
Or, at least, they used to be.

I live in East London, she lives in Cambridge. That's about an hours car journey, which is long enough, but even longer when you factor in that I don't actually drive.
But a friend is giving me a ride down there on Saturday. We're oing to have "The Talk."

During the summer, at my local comic shop, Zeus Comics, we have Beer Fridays. It's fun selling comics and drinking.

No. Everything was going great, but now she's sudenly developed issues about the fct that we got together two days after she split from her ex. I think she's afraid she looks...
... I dunno what she thinks she looks like to be honest. But it doesn't matter. I'l just have to be more of charming motherfucker than I am already.

I go to two shops regularly, and one has a regular poker circle that I'm considering joining.

Dude. When I spent a semester in Cambridge we took afternoon/late trains into and out of London all the time. Class was over at two? Train to London at 2:30, piss around for a bit and have dinner and then catch the 11:00 back to Cambridge.
Ah I miss those days.

I wasn't officially rebound guy.
I may be now, though.
Eh, fuck it. I like her alot, and she likes me alot, and it's gone back to before she broke up with her old guy for both of us. If she needs a little bit of space, she's got it. If she decides she wants to keep on as we're going, obiously I'm down with that, too.

I know, it's two trains for me. But it's pretty expensive. Not that she's not worth it, understand...

That's true.
I miss London. That's a great little town there on the Thames.
I miss going to Tate Modern.

Yea. All my friends started getting married and spitting out kids. We rarely all get together anymore.
It's sad... I need to make some new friends.
