View Full Version : Got Wii ? where?
Hey guys,
i played Wii at my neighbor's house and it's a lot of fun....It's also a workout which i was thinking would go great with my high cholesterol situation. (just go along with my attempts to buy a Wii for "health reasons" okay?) Anyway, these things are impossible to find. Looks like everybody who bought one is trying to sell it on eBay for $500. Anybody know a legit dealer who still has Wii in stock? Or a secret place to get one for a fair price?

Just get a PS3, and then everytime you press X, jump as high as you can. O, squat, square kick left, and triangle kick right. You just saved yourself $100 to spend on baked Doritos, and have a high def game system that also plays Blu-Ray.
Next problem.

I think if you go to gamestop, you can pre-pay for one and when it comes in, you just pick it up. I would do that if it were me, instead of hunting for one.
I have Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Metal of Honor, Metroid, and RE4.
I have beaten Zelda, and I am starting Mario. I have also played MOH as well.

I'm pretty sure Eric O'Grady still has his.

I have this uncanny knack for finding wii's. If you want me to snag you one, let me know.
Hey Clint, Your plan requires patience--that's going to be tough! Which game do you think is the standout? I've only played the sports and carnival games. How's the Zelda and Mario Bros. games?

Heck yes! If you find one, just contact me through my website ( greghornart@yahoo.com ) The FX show was really good by the way--I already thanked Marc for getting me a spot on such short notice!

I got my Wii back in Oct and ebayed Zelda. I beat that first before I played anything else. I loved it. It was not very difficult to the point where you die alot, so that was nice. They made it where there was just ALOT of bosses, so rather than making it hard to extend the game, they made it easier but give you a lot of fun levels. If you liked Ocarina of Time on the N64, you will love this one. It seems like a perfect sequel to it. I think my final save time on the game was like 54 hours or something, so you get your monies worth.
I just started playing Mario this weekend and I am liking it quite a bit so far. It seems like a perfect sequel to Mario 64 too, but it is a lot different from any Mario game so far. I highly recommend it too. I heard it was kind of short, so I am going to play it in smaller doses to drag it out some.

I'm glad you had a good show at FX, it was prretty awesome :)
Ask and you shall receive!! One of my good friends from this board is hooking me up with a Wii. I'll keep it secret for now in case he doesn't like people to know that he is currently beating the system. Next thing you know...everybody will be bugging him for sold out games.

So Horn what exactly are you going to get for Wii? I recommend no DEMAND that you get Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and Super Smash Bros Brawl.
If you like strategy rpgs and want to know who the hell Ike is in Brawl then it's your game. That and Super Smash Bros Brawl have me hooked to the Wii.

I don't know what's more of a riot Greg, that you have a wife WILLING to play video games with her husband, or the fact that she beats you at them.
Wait till your kids get older Greg, and you might get schooled ;)
Kinda like that episode of the Simpsons with "Bleeding Gums Murphy" where Homer is ashamed that he keeps getting beat by Bart in boxing, so he goes to the arcade to get some pointers from a kid :D

Yes!!! I just got my Wii and i am revelling in the realization that this newsgroup is a resource for anything we choose... not just comics and art. You see, I couldn't find a Wii at a reasonable price online and all the stores around here are still sold out. Soooo, i posted on this forum for help...and the call was answered...How freakin' awesome is that!?
Since starting this newsgroup I've gotten advice on how to make my flash movies into buttons, and various code strings for my website. We all talked about the pros and cons between Firefox and Explorer, and i discovered that MST3K episodes can be watched on Youtube for free! I guess what I'm trying to say is i love this forum, and i'm glad we all have a place to shoot the shit.
Now, the bad news....
My mom beat me at Wii bowling .... she's 80 years old.... I'm not kidding my wife will tell you it's embarrassingly true. But of course i was trying to put a spin on the ball and she was bowling straight (granny-style--ha!). Then I boxed Betsy and she knocked me out in the 2nd round. :surrend: She immediately text messaged all of her brothers....great! I took out my frustrations on baseball and wailed a 613 ft homer

I know the feeling man. My wife whips up on me all the time. One suggestion, buy rechargeable batteries for the remotes. Those bad boys go through them in about 8-12 hours.
As for games:
Cooking Mama is a blast.
Carnival Games is fun. Just think state fair without all the creepy carnies trying to rip you off.
Mario Galaxy is a must own as well as Smash Bros.
Be sure to post the Wii Friends code too!!!

Depends on which one you get. I have one from Naki (sp?) and it's junk. I just went with the good ole Energizer rechargeables so you can always use them in something else if not in the Wii remote.
I have TONS of rechargable batteries. I bought every shape and size when we had the twins and i must say that was one of my smarter investments. i even have rechargeable "D" batteries from Radio Shack. I AM THE KING OF RECHARGABLE BATTERIES!!!
Anyway, I think i will try Smash Bros. next... my arms ache--is that normal?

*Bows in homage to the KING of rechargeable batteries*
We never have any in this house! Every time we get anything new it's a trek to find an open shop which sells decent priced batteries.
I've just started playing Splinter Cell and ahhhhhhh what fun. I'm only 1 level in and I've broken necks, sleeper held someone till they dropped, pulled people over 20 foot drops, it's BLISS!
If you weren't blessed with the European rechargeable battery mountain I would suggest the charging station too lol
They are expensive but they pay for themselves eventually.
Are you saying they have Splinter Cell on Wii?

Oooooh yeh! It's a touch annoying with the controls, to jump or to stick to a wall you have to shake the nunchuk (in different directions obviously) but get the position of your hand wrong and you find yourself not jumping to the pipe to snap some necks but leaning against the nearest wall and being beaten to a pulp by men with guns lol

You should get the zapper and Metal of Honor: Heroes and we can kill nazis together. The use of the movements is awesome in that game. I don't think I have had so much with a fps since Goldeneye on the N64.
Hey clint, I love WWII games... hmmm... wonder if i can finally bring Betsy into the WWII frame of mind. So far she does not get my fascination with the subject.

I think it is a pretty fun game. It uses the motions perfectly. On the second mission, you get to use a rocket launcher, and in order to get it ready to shoot, you have to lift the zapper up and over your shoulder like you are holding an actual rocket launcher so you are pointing the gun to whatever is behind you. Once you make that motion, it activates the gun in the game... It is just pure awesomeness.

So, has your arm fallen off yet?
I started off playing Tennis with the wife and both our arms were falling off. So we took a break and have been playing trivia and i rented a flying game called Squadron Angels. It's a pretty frustrating game thank you.
At Blockbuster they had a sign saying "Super Smash Bros Brawl coming in March". Obviously, this is not the one you guys were telling me about, but they didn't have any game at all called Super Smash.
Give me a list of your top 5 favorite games because i can try them out by renting.

In no specific order:
Super Mario Galaxy
Resident Evil 4
Legend of Zelda
Metroid Prime 3
Guitar Hero

Zelda and Mario Galaxy are pretty fun, but I am a Zelda nut!! Gutair Hero is a blast!!I first saw people playing this and I though mehh that doesn't look like much fun. Then I tried and I have become hooked on it! I recently even bought an xbox 360 so I could download more songs. Kinda dumb to buy a whole system for one game but oh well!
I'm definitely going to look for Super mario galaxy and Zelda. With guitar Hero, does it help if you know how to play a real guitar?

I don't know, I haven't ever learned how to play a gutiar,so I couldn't be honest there. I am trying to learn the drum parts with the rock band game though and now know what an uncorodinated spaz I really am!
Oh and I started playing the gutiar about a month before my gal did and she kicks my butt all the time now.
I do have a blast playing GH though!

So, How's it treating yah? What games did you pick up? I'm in the middle of Mario Galaxy & having a blast with it. I recently picked up House of the Dead 2 & 3 and Resident Evil 4. Still holding out for a good RPG.

Casual gamers, best to go for a Wii. Heck, the Wii's innovation even gets people who haven't played a video game in their life playing. I know, I've seen it happen first-hand.

hi Storm! Welcome to the board-- you were at the NYCC show right? It was great wasn't it? Speaking of Wii, I did this illustration for Penthouse a few months ago. I tried to explain to them how funny this would be if the guy was using a Wii instead of a Playstation joystick. But i don't think they understood what the hell i was talking about. ;-)

Played Mario Kart online this weekend. It's a blast & I recommend it! I've played a lot of single player to unlock character & karts.
It's a dirty cheating bastard of a single player game sometimes! You can be way in front then all of the sudden you'll get a ton of shit thrown at you. You're screwed with spin outs & getting knocked off course. It can be pretty frustrating at times.

Good to know, Mad Monkey. I suppose that front-line bit is Mario Kart's version of the 'catch-up' feature in racing games. If you're behind, you'll soon be able to catch up to cars way ahead, and vice-versa.
Will pick this up after finals.

Do you think the game is programmed to handicap you if you are winning by too much? That would suck... but then you can tell people you are being penalized for being TOO AWESOME, corey! :)
