View Full Version : 3D concerts are pretty stupid.

What's with this new trend of showing 3D concerts in theaters now?

The chain I go to is gearing up for Hanna Montana in early February and then U2 later in the month. Now the former I can almost understand, because it's for kids. Plus her tickets are extremely expensive and even harder to obtain, so this will at least give them something similar. The U2 one on the other hand might be the saddest thing I've ever heard. Isn't that sort of cold and soulless? I haven't experienced one for myself, but it just seems really fucking lame to me. Either go out and see U2 live and in person or never see them at all. It's as simple as that. Do you think people sing along in the theater? Do they hold up lighters, and scream for an encore?

Anyone else agree or is there an act you'd go check out in this format?

I think it's dumb. The only way to see a concert in 3d is to BE at the concert itself.

I hadn't even heard of this. That's just plain silly.

I have no plans to see the U2 "concert" and there is no way in hell I'll step foot in the Miley Cyrus one, but I can see where it would appeal to some people. People don't always live near a venue that supports big names or they may not be able to afford the price of the ticket. It's not cheap to go to a big name show.

How is it much different than watching a concert dvd of your favorite musical artist?

I like concert films. I'll see the U2 one. Tickets are expensive but alot less than actual live tickets.

i really like U2. it was like seeing one of their concerts live, but with the angles of a film. it was just a delight to watch. the sound in the theater, the pounding of the bass. it was great.

i wouldn't want to see a band like them live and have to sit in shitty seats, and seeing that film was like seeing them live with the greatest seat ever.
