40 dollars for the Mesiah CompleX hard cover? Compare that to the Secret Invasion: The Infiltration tpb, what a difference in value.

New Mutants Vol 3 has some great stuff. Might pick that up

Deadpool Classic Vol. 1 makes me hope there will be volumes 2-30 (or whenever Joe Kelly's run ended)

But yeah the collections this month are kind on my wallet

The rest of their amazing output, is not

The Story: So, have you ever noticed that Peter Parker never really grows facial hair? That’s just this side of weird, right? We felt sorry for the wall–crawler, so we went and got him a special guest star, THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN!!!!!! Because I think we can all agree that Tony Stark’s got the sweetest facial hair in all of Marvel Comics. Oh! And they fight a Nazi robot.

HA!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN # 557
The Story: “Sometimes It Snows In April” (Come on it’s a Prince reference from 20 years ago! The day of the massively unhip editor is upon us) continues with Spidey caught in the middle of two ancient threats that are conspiring to take him and the city itself down.
Plus, Carlie trapped at the Police Station with someone after her blood!
Rated A …$2.99

“Sometimes It Snows In April” I immediately thought of Prince & his Parade album. I gues it's the days of the unhip reader, too.

40 dollars for the Mesiah CompleX hard cover? Compare that to the Secret Invasion: The Infiltration tpb, what a difference in value.

Well, lets look.

Messiah Complex: 39.99
Secret Invasion: 19.99

Messiah CompleX : Oversized HC
Secret Invasion: regular sized TPB

Messiah Complex: 352 pages
Secret Invasion: 232 ppgs

Messiah Complex: collects 12 issues plus the Messiah Complex one shot
Secret Invasion: collects 8 issues plus an annual

So, for 20 extra dollars, you get a HC format that is oversized, with 120 more pages, and it collects about 4/5 more issues of material.

So, when you break it down like that, I think the pricing makes sense.

Wow, lot's of interesting stuff!
Maleev's PWJ cover is fucking SCARY. Too awesome.

Land's X-Men poster is very intriguing. Pixie? Seems to be quite the random choice, wouldn't you say? Hmmm...

Deadpool Classic is appealing, but is it worth it? Should I hold out for volumes 2 on? What say you, Bendis Board?

Omega Red's back in USM, that's pretty cool. I like his redesign.

Amazing Spider-Man is gonna rock that month. Bachalo, Spidey, Wolverine, snow... it just seems like a fantastic visual. Bianchi's poster is great, too.

More Arana in Spider-Girl is great. I never cared for her before, but I've liked her in her MC2 appearances.

Yeah, i like how Whedon was supposed to give the book a huge boost, but he's pretty much made the title non-existent and made everyone forget about it..

Fuck, there goes my favorite mainstream Marvel book.

Also, yet another month where I still don't know if I'm buying a single X-men book. I think this will probably be the make-or-break month for me and BND. I like the idea of Spider-man fighting some powerful supernatural villain, but Wells is hit-and-miss and I do not like Bachalo.

Is it me, or does the title Wolverine: First Class make absolutely no sense whatsoever? For X-Men it works - they were the first class of students at Xavier's school.

But a book about Wolverine & Kitty Pryde? What 'First Class' are they?

I totally understand the point of cohesive branding (ie: Young Avengers, Young X-Men), but this one's kinda silly.

Yeah it is kind of silly. But I also think they ran out of ideas for sub-titles...

As soon as it was announced that Joss Whedon was taking over Runaways I fucking punched a wall because I knew this was going to happen.

I read on this board a while back that someone saw Ryan at a Con and he said that the delay was his fault. If that's true, that really ticks me off because I'm not really in love with his art style. It's pretty alright, but Alphona was much better, IMO.

And I wonder how Secret Invasion is going to affect the title. If it wasn't handcuffed, there could be some really great stuff to tie into it.

*sigh*

yeah - ryan's style is a bit too generic teenage superheroey. Runaways needs an artist with more of an underground, hipster vibe to it.

How awesome would Pope, Mahfood, or Crosland be on this book?
