Okay, since Thud is rarely online when the Midtown list goes up, he's asked me to handle the voting threads. This is not a coup d'etat. :D

Quick summary of what this thread is:

This thread is for everyone to determine what book we will review in the BB Review Thread. In the past we took turns picking a book but now we are openly voting for titles we would like to see reviewed. Everyone is welcome to participate, no need to ask.

After visiting the Midtown shipping list (or another one you prefer) and looking over the choices please nominate one book. At the end of the week (thread closes on Tuesday at 6pm EST) the title with the most votes wins. Feel free to lobby for your choice as much as you please :)

There are no restrictions on what you can nominate and vote. Any publisher (no matter how small) any price (singles, trades, hardcovers ect) and import titles are all fair game.

We will do a new thread every week to do these votes

Here's the list of what is shipping 1/23:

Time to pick next weeks book :)

This seems to be a fairly easy pick to me.

Young Avengers Presents #1. I think this is the Brubaker issue. And with these creative teams coming up, and the fact that each issue is a stand-alone story with a different creative team and focus, I wouldn't be surprised if we wound up reviewing it more than once. :)

Hellblazer #240

Diggle has been either great or okay on this title. This starts a new arc, but I'd recomend getting issue #239 as well, since it was the prologue.

But Constantine was only in 1 panel of the prologue. It basically just set up the villian of the arc.

X-Men #207 - one last chance to really review Messiah Complex. It's gonna be incredible.

As good as both X-men and Astonishing are going to be, I can't think of worse places to review an arc than the final issue.

AXM is kindof the last but one issue, but I do agree. It's a bit like reviewing the last 20 minutes of a movie.

I'll go YOung Avengers.

Brevoort blogged about the fact that, in all of those covers, Cheung didn't just use old pieces of art. He actually REDREW them to look like the various depictions and pictures of the characters. Awesome work.

That's amazing. I assumed it was just a cut and paste job. Cheung is a god. 8-)

This is futile, but X-Men 207, and more of a review of Messiah Complex as a whole.

Yeah, not a good point to review it, I don't think.

However, this is still one of DC's best books, so buy it if you're not. :)

I didn't care for Giffen's run, and am trying to cut back on other titles. So, why, pray tell, should I give this another shot?

Because ever since John Rogers took over, it has become one of the most true-to-life(for a book about a kid with a killer alien weapon, anyway) superhero books on the stand. It's brilliant in the way it weaves his supporting cast and family into some pretty epic storylines. Plus, it's characters are virtually all original, it's got some great new villains, and there's more genuine emotion in the title than most teen superhero books.

Read the stand-alone story in Blue Beetle #16, about Jaime dealing with a hurricane. You'll fall in love with the title.

I nominate Death Dealer #6!
this is the end for the first of Frank Frazetta's many awesome Sword and Sorcery titles, and it promises to have dark, gory violence that should quench any barbarian lover's thirst!
...also, because Midtown says that Conan 48 isn't coming out next week....

Excited about YA and all, but I'm going to toss myself into the futile, "let's finally review Messiah Complex" bandwaggon...

And so... add me to X-Men, but in truth we should review Messiah Complex as a whole.

Also, like the earlier poster whom I'm too lazy to look up, I wouldn't mind reviewing the Sasca Wiccan Young Avengers ish intead. As a big fan of his Spec Spidey run, it'd be interesting to see what he can do with the character, whereas it seems like we review Brubaker books every other week.

Epting did the same thing like this on an issue of Cap's cover, the one where we learn the secrets of the Winter Soldier, issue 11, I think.
