Go to Hell, Kirk! Last time I went to that shit-hole I had to go through hell in customs, and then the lady at the currency exchange totally ripped me off. I... will...not.... attend .....Omacron
....again
.....ever!
Hey Dudes,
Looks like 2008 is going to be a crazy year as far as cons go.
Virgin Comics just signed me up last minute for FX International in Orlando Florida January 25-27. Don't think i'm even on the guest list yet, but i will be there courtesy of Virgin Comics and the Virgin Mega store (http://www.virginmega.com) in Orlando, FL who will have an exhibitor's booth at the show. They will have some great 24" lithos of Shadow Hunter for me to sign. And i think they are going to print up my covers for Dan Dare and The Stranded (although these might be a limited printing.)
My other scheduled shows for the first half of 2008 are:
MEGACON, ORLANDO, FL Mar 7-9 Megacon is my "hometown show" although I live about 150 miles away. Anyway, this great show officially kicks off the season so knock an old lady over, or even a small helpless child in your mad rush to get to artist alley--who could blame you?
SUPANOVA SYDNEY, AUS Mar. 28-30 This will not be my first time "down under" but it will be my first time in Australia. I plan to find out why they are putting shrimps on Barbies. I mean, who wants a stinky, smelly doll?
(note: the word "doll" may be substituted with the word "action figure" for certain someones on this freakin' board.)
SUPANOVA BRISBANE, AUS Apr. 4-6 A week later, i'm scheduled to appear at the Brisbane event. They've got me scheduled to box a kangaroo. Sounds like an Australian sex act, so i'm a little wary ...more on this later.
NEW YORK COMICON NY Apr. 18-20 Holy cow! this is an awesome show. This is my must go to show from now on. If you can only go to one comic convention, go here.
SUPERCON SAN JOSE, CA May. 17-18 This will be my first con in the great Northwest. I've heard rave reviews about this new show, but if that's not enough to get you to move your ass, here's the current guest list of artist who are not too bad: Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, Michael Golden, and Travis Charest.
OMACRON SETEE-3 I know a lot of people were hoping to see me at this show, but I refuse to attend until management is changed or I am compensated for damages and personal injury incurred at the show in 2006.

You had me at NYCC Greg :D
Only 2 shows and you already love it. WOW! Can't wait to see how it grows when it gets a few more years under its belt. You know this year, it has the WHOLE Jacob Javitz center? Can't wait.
You still you might be appearing at the Marvel booth or possible panels? In any case, you can expect to see me at your table(s) at the artist alley. I'll be the guy offering you the bottle of Pibb ;)
I got's mad love for Chicago! I'm only listing the first half of the year for now. Second half of 2008 will most certainly be Chicago and i'm thinking Baltimore and maybe some others.
No love for Chicago?
No San Diego this year--I'm going to San Jose instead.
Actually I loved it after 0 shows! I signed up for the first NYCC show before they even had their website up--I'm their first artist alley guest ever. My thinking was this: 1 It's New York--Marvel's there, DC's there, and tons of other companies and media 2 It's being done by Reed Exhibitions who specialize in expos--they do the "Book Expo" which is the largest book show in the country, so i knew they were not going to go small 3 at the time there was no super-show in New York (which is freaking preposterous), so i knew there would be massive support for any show that could make that initial dent in the industry's conscience 4 they were doing it in February which is about the time when people are just itching for con season to start!
Essentially, I think the comic industry has been waiting for this particular show to happen for a decade and now it is here. On it's second year it was already a top 5 show and this year with the entire bottom floor of the Jacob Javits it will be top 3. They've also moved the dates to April which is more weather friendly. Its going to be great!
....I will need that Pibb.

Yeah, where else but Chicago can you get an all you can eat prime rib buffet ;)
I'm supposed to be watching my cholesterol, but in Chicago I will cheat big time!

sucks I'll miss you at mega con, but i"m leaving this state in feb
The Omacron show is a piece of shit! Everything they told me about the event was a bald-faced lie. They forgot to put my name on the program guide which really steams my bean. Then, they told me Omacron was an "M class" planet, but I spent the whole show with veins bulging out of my head. The place smelled like Hell bent over, and to make matters worse the artist alley tables were only 3 foot wide. Finally, I tried to convert my money to US and some ferengi bitch at the currency counter totally ripped me off.
Kirk keeps pressuring to get me to go, but he's just a limp dick with legs.
BOYCOTT OMACRON!

According to Greg on this board, his love of one of those two is enough for them to make unsponsored cameos in his comics. :)

Well, I can't argue with that, but just you wait till he's had some Czech or German beer. Those cameos would change right quick. :)

I'll make it my mission to find some good German beer in NYC before the show. Stupid "dont bring liquids onto an airplane" rule.
If only there was a German beer that tasted like Pibb!
Hey Changing Shades! Why are you leaving sunny Florida?!?

Look, it's not that hard. Add a little Grey Goose to Pibb. Problem solved.
Is anybody going to MEGA-CON this weekend? First big show of the year you know!

This is the most amusing (and unforgettable way) to remind you that I could think of:

HEY GREG! The artist alley list for the NYCC is up, but your name isn't anywhere to be seen.......:mistrust:.......:(
KIDDING! :D
NAh, your name's there Greg, as well as a few other losers ;)
I've always wondered, why is the artist alley called that when there are both artists AND writers. What's the deal with that ;) And what's the deal with blah blah blah random Seinfeld quote.....:D
In short, see ya there Greg, Skrulls and all :)

Greg do you do sketches or sell original art or some such at artist alley? I would really love to see your take on Iron Fist or buy one of your Skrull covers.

I think it started off as a place for artists to "sell their wares" and then the writers started moving in so they can sell...i dunno...scripts? Writers rule the world already, so let's start a class war! --Get the hell out of artist alley writers!! uhm...maybe i should just shut up.

I will be bringing my prelims to every show. As far as sketches go, i can only do them if someone helps me man my booth. I should start looking for volunteers one of these days. i might bring some original art...but that always makes me nervous.

I'm guessing for fear it might be stolen? Thanks for answering the question Greg.

It appears you and I will not be at any of the same cons for the first half of this year. How did we let that happen?
And "hello Greg, long time no talk."
It's a east coast west coast thang. Those California shows are tough to get out to from Florida... long trip, expensive, and draining. I've replaced San Diego with SuperCon this year (San jose). Why don't you get a table there? I hear it is a good show and Steve manages to get some great guests in there. This year it is Adam hughes, Frank Cho, Michael Golden and Travis Charest. I'll be there with many a Skrull in tow!
