View Full Version : Why does cooking human flesh smell so bad?

I mean we BBQ all sorts of animals every day in our backyards, on our balcony's, etc. most of it smells quite good.
But every time I read a story about the latest cannibal it is said the stench of the cooking flesh was unbearable, horrid, putrid, disgusting.
Why is this so? Humans and animals we are all basically the same underneath our skin.
Is it because the human meat is not properly prepared in advance?
Is it because the human meat isn't marinated (cause face it a good marinade always makes it smell/taste better?
Discuss.

Depends on what part of the body. I suppose you've never ate/cooked chitlins?

I would think it'd have something to do with the human diet. I don't think cows eat Twinkies.
Probably some some of evolutionary conditioning. Your body smells burning human and wants to avoid the same fate.
I've heard it smells a lot like severely burnt pork.

And peanut oil. Vegetable oil doesn't work well in a wok.

Why does feces smell so bad!?!

I wonder if ALL animals smell nice when you cook them? Apes? Stork? Elephant? Leopard?
We might be eating the same half dozen animals over and over again because they're the best of the bunch.

Mine doesn't.
Also, when you cook beef or pork you're usually cooking something that's meant to be eaten, not the stuff that won't smell good like hair or internal organs. So it's not so much that burnt human flesh smells bad, it's also that the we happen to eat the parts of animals that smell good when they are cooked. I mean if you were immolating a whole cow on your grill rather than just a porterhouse it probably wouldn't smell good either.

Then you should eat it.

Smell bad? You should try eating them.

So if you cooked a shaved human butt cheek, that should smell great?

If anyone hasn't prepared chitlins, tripe, and (I would assume) lamb fires or calf fries, then you would know that animals can stink when cooked too. And oysters smell particularly bad to me, but I still eat em.
So consuming a human, despite the smell, would be all that hard for me, cept the whole illegal to kill people thing.

I'm not saying it would smell great, but it would probably smell less unpleasant than cooking a whole human.

...yea, I'll agree with that. I would have hated to be around for the experimental period, though.
This does bring up a question though: what does duck-billed platypus smell/taste like?

Yes, but do most other animals smell unappetizing when you cook them?
In any case, I can't imagine anything more horrifying than watching an open air cremation. I don't know how the Indians do (did?) it.

You don't have that feeling in your head that eating another person is fundamentally wrong?

Could it be because we consume meat? None of the animals we eat do. I'm just throwing this out there.

It is, but making burger meat out of dead celebrities would be a viable business. It's for the rich alone, though.

They aren't fed meat though, right? It's not like we're eating wild boar.

I've smelt a person who's sustained a lot of burns on his body and was charred black by the time he got to the hospital. He was begging to die.
He smelt like coal-charred bacon.
Consider the crap humans put in their bodies. Beer, donuts, fried foods, candy, Jack in the Box...
I'm hungry.

Not wrong as in morally or legally wrong. I would never kill a person. But the actual act of consuming human flesh is not wrong to me no. It's conditioning of being human. Do we find it anymore horrific if animals resort to cannabilism? We're just supposedly more intelligent then animals. I don't see the difference.

Because of the toxins and other weird shit in our diets.
Also, you need to use the extra virgin olive oil, first cold press, and it should really be from Tuscany.

I actually do find it horrific when animals resort to cannibalism. I remember watching that chimpanzee thing on Planet Earth and was horrified. Also the bit on a South Park dvd where Matt and Trey fed that pig pieces of bacon was awful.

Don't they burn it most of the time to get rid of the evidence? So they are burning everything? All hair and fat and all that stuff? It's just smelly!

It's because humans eat too many preservatives and chemicals. Makes it taste bad.
