I've seen other sites like this, but this one seems more accurate to me. You weight how important issues are to you, then answer some scaled questions on certain issues, and you're done. Don't know much about these guys. Going to have to find out more.

Oh, Mike Gravel edged him out by one point. All I know about him is that he made a weird campaign ad.

I wonder if the scores the candidates have for each category are based on campaign speeches and promises, or actual voting records.

it appears to be both if you look at each category for why they agree or disagree with you.

Yeah, I don't think they did a good job on the dem side, everyone is getting the same people. But the reality is that democrats use different, softer language that helps their chances of getting elected, so sometimes you don't get unequivocal yes or no answers from the bigger Dems.

Seems a lot of people are getting 65-75 percent towards Obama for the most part, despite him being their first choice elsewhere. Seems the questions aren't that good at depicting the candidates choices properly despite a pretty solid setup of background checks for each of the questions. That or we've just gotten a different impression of Obama in comparison to reality :) Then again, the candidates we get aren't frontrunners, so our perfect candidates may not be available in the final rounds anyway.

I wish they had some more questions available for comparison though. Some of the issues I care for are not properly represented here.

Edit: Some of the questions really are improperly set up. I was trying for the evilest choices possible in the Abortion and Contraception category, and found out Duncan Hunter WASN'T opposed to abortions in the case of rape or incest. Well, at least according to the quiz. In the info-slide just below that question when reading up on the candidates choices, however, it seemed to depict him stating something quite the opposite to what the quiz was putting forth just moments ago.

greg donovan
01-05-2008, 09:51 PM

edwards is low because he doesn't support gay marriage, legalizng medicinal marijuana, or abolishing the death penalty.

i knew it would be kucinich...

kucinich is not taken seriously because the media does not take him seriously, and the national democratic party has so many ties to big business (the health care system, the "industrial military complex", etc.) that they tolerate him as a congressman, but push him off the stage as soon as possible because he says things that scare them. i am voting for him in the primary, just like i did in 2004, if for no other reason than to force the DEM party to let him speak at the convention. He is the voice of progressive politics in this country.
