bendis wasnt particularly happy with the type of paper they used, but on the other hand, its one of the best stories in comics ever. so, i say get it.

I want them, but it is the wrong time of year to buy for myself. I think I will hunt them down on ebay next year.

Be wary of the paper stock they used. I heard it's horrendous.

I have the first one and love it. If I don't get the others for Christmas, I'll pick them up. Wonderful content. I also don't think it would look as good on super glossy paper.

Yeah, I was reading about the paper "controversy" on the Amazon reviews... they were kinda mixed about it there. That stuff doesn't tend to bother me so... yeah... I'm gonna have to pick this up.
Thanks, folks

I have the first three (read the first two and have the third one Pat "Secret Santa" Loika-Clause) and they are absolute wonderful works.
It's Kirby at the top of his game, in his prime. It's not the most linear of stories, but there's no substitute for the crazy, insane, everything AND the kitchen sink imagination.
The paper quality doesn't bother me, in fact, I love it. The books are dense and yet lightweight and I just love love love these volumes.

I have Volumes 1 and 2. Love them to DEATH. I'm about half way through reading Volume 2 (never read them before). I'll be buying volume 3 pretty soon.

I gotta admit, the 4th World stuff by Kirby just depresses me. DC fucked him so hard on this stuff.

I've got them all and have vol. 4 on preorder. The paper is ancillary to me, I mean really, the stories and the art kicks so much ass you have time to criticize the paper stock of all things?

The Mr. Miracle stuff is my favorite. I do get a kick out of Flippa Dippa, though.

I asked for the first couple of volumes for Christmas and I'm hoping I'll get them. In the new year I'm going to read these and the first few Fantastic Four Essential volumes and overdose on Kirby. Can't wait.

The Fourth World stuff is really great because you can see its influence and it's a treasure to have the oppurtunity to read these stories.

The paper stock is ideal for this type of coloring and makes the book lightweight for reading on the terlet. A++++++. People who complain about it are wrong.

Hell, I think I'm gonna have to order all 4 volumes now... Especially after hearing that vol. 4 reprints the Hunger Dogs GN!
