I bought a new bike last year, but it has a flat. I enjoy it more than any other excersize. What kind did you get?

I bought a bike a few years ago while I was living in downtown Richmond and rode it all the time. I loved it. It was a great way to get around. Now I live in the 'burbs, and ironically, there is no safe place to ride around here.

I bought one of those cheap ones  actually I think it's a mongoose from Walmart...only 68.00, and considering the beating I just put on it, it's well built
I bought my wife one for her B-day and she's been pestering me about going with her...it was great

biking is the rare sport where better equipment really will increase your enjoyment levels dramatically.
if you truly enjoy it, shell out the bucks for a decent bike. you'll be amazed at how much better it feels.
trek makes an excellent bike.

I've got a pretty good bike that I need to start using again soon. The seat sucks on it though, and its a gel. I probably need a better one.

You don't see many fat bike riders. Just an observation. I certainly have no idea if you are fat or not JR. I'm just saying. You really don't.

Just an observation. You really don't. Maybe bike riding keeps bike riders thin, or maybe the don't make ass-size-appropriate seats for fat bike riders. Either way. You really don't see many fat bike riders.
Oh, and also? This is the only real bike riding thread around where it would be appropriate to say something like - "You don't see a lot of fat bike riders."

but your observation is just so random. it was nowhere close to the flow of the conversation. now, i know you're not the kind of cowardly poster who makes oblique personal insults... so what could your motivation possibly have been to share such a pointless piece of trivia?

I can't afford to spend too much money...there's a new bike shop near our apt that has some nice bikes but I can't imagine spending more than I did...although I did see a few accessories I probably need

First off, I'd like to apologize to that kitten who just got fisted in heaven.
Then I'd like to say it must be one of the least random posts I have ever made. I mean come on, I make a lot of random-ass posts. This one wasn't even close. It was a comment about Bikes in a thread about bikes. I mentioned fat people right after some people talked about bike riding being exercise. Its not brain surgery. It is just a fact that you don't see a lot of giant fat folks peddling around the hood. You just don't.
-See lots of fat people eatin' ice cream and drinkin' pop, but not alot of gi-normous decathaletes.
-Lots of fat people sittin' around drinkin' Kool Aid and eatin' twinkies, not so many engaging in armadillo races on thier pogo sticks.
-Lots of heffers hanging out at the manicurist, not a lot of fatty-boom-batties acting as the wheel barrow in a wheel barrow race.
-Plump people at the comicbook store, not so many racing against world hunger.
- Tubbers gettin' stuck in turnstyles, not doing situps on the town green.
See, there are LOTS of things you don't see the fat of the world doing, but since this particular thread was about bicycles, I thought it appropriate to mention that you don't see a lot of big fat asses riding thier bikes around town. Now if this thread had been about TRICYCLES, that would have been a different story. The dual-rear-wheel construction of a trikey is perfectly suited to the larger-assed rider.

Rear wheel stearing in a Big Wheel? INSANE!!!!!
I had the Dukes of Hazard Big Wheel with hand break. I did not have the wheel clicker installed, but my best friend did.

I've been meaning to buy a new road bike for years now - my road bike is a Fuji originally purchased in 1984 (new frame bought in 1986 after an accident), and the technology has moved on a bit since then.
A guy who lives down the street from me is in the process of biking across the US right now. He's got a lightweight recumbent bike, and I'm really hot to get one of them considering I can't ride for more than 40 minutes without losing feeling in my hands and other more vital areas.

Biking is one of the few things that will always be with me. I've ridden since I was little, got into mountain biking during high school, worked in a shop all through college and ride to work as often as I can.
It's one of those things that's easy for me to take for granted, until I actually get back on a bike and remember how amazing it feels.

I used to do this all the time during the summer when visiting my dad. Of course, I was between 11 and 13 years old, and it was my only form of transportation during the day.
