I haven't been able to buy comics for about four months now.
I hear a lot of people yelping about this One more day spidey story.
What's the deal?
Some magic retcon or something?
I'm so lost.

Wow. You really only hang in the video game threads, huh? :)
Yeah, its looking like magic retcon, or last minute swerve from the magic retcon. Check out the multiple threads. Boycotts, yelling, etc.
Its The Doctor & Joe Q vs JMS and the rest of the BenBo

Joe Quesada doesn't want Spider-Man to be married.
So we get 1 more day. Due to the events from Civil War, Spider-Man's identity as Peter Parker becomes public knowledge. Kingpin hires someone to assassinate Peter. Guy with a sniper rifle misses Peter and hit his dear Aunt May. May is in critical condition. The doctors say they can't save her. Peter goes to everyone he can think of. Every Doctor, Scientist, Magician to try to find some way to save her. Everyone tells him she is going to die and there is nothing they can do. Peter vows he will save her and will give up ANYTHING to save her life.
And this is the new issues summery:
Enter the newest issue of the one more day storyline. Mephisto appears to Spider-Man and tells him he can save his Aunt may, however it will cost him. Peter says he's not making any decisions with out MJ, Mephisto pulls MJ into the mix. Peter eventually tells Mephisto he can go to hell and he doesn't want to make any deal, MJ tells him to hold on and to hear Mephisto out. Mephisto says that if he saves Aunt May, Perter and MJ's Marriage will cease to exist. No one will ever remember that Peter and MJ were ever married. He then tells them that they have 24 hours, a.k.a. one more day, to make their decision. At the end of 24 hours if they accept the deal, they'll never remember being married and no one else will either and Aunt May Lives. If they turn the deal down...Aunt May Dies.
And that's it in a nutshell...though I have a feeling quite a few people have already answered your question and I'm just repeating what's already been said.

The idea that there is not one willing and capable of healing Aunt May in the MU is stupid.

You know I could lie and say that I'm all for boycotting Amazing Spidey, but I'm looking at the creative teams they have lined up and I almost think I'd be stupid not to pick it up. Don't get me wrong, if this all goes down the way think it is, I'm going to be pissed, but not pissed enough to drop the book. Just let May die! I mean he'd be responsible for Uncle Ben AND Aunt May's death. How miserable would that make him! The iconic Spidey stories are the ones where he is riddled with guilt!
PS: I still think One More Day is better than that god awful John Byrne relaunch they did way back when.

The Clone Saga is even superior to that relaunch horror show. To me the relaunch is the lowest point ever.
One More Day is Watchmen when compared with the relaunch.

it's obviously too much of a sacrifice to make to give a 90 year old crone a few extra years of life. It might be a little more interesting, and poignant, if some other character's life was hanging in the balance.

Any chance of combining all these into one thread and making it sticky?
