Nothing to congratulate yet. Only an interview, and now my boss is on her way out of town for a few weeks, so I may not hear for awhile.

And yeah, the last person to interview was offered a position $13k a year lower than what she's making as a contractor.

Wouldn't be working for her, but that's who the resume goes to. She was the only relationship I ever had that was wrecked by politics. Her uncle (who is like her dad) is a Republican Congressman. I went over to watch a football game once. Once. Nice girl, and we do get along fine, I just dunno if she'd feel weird about helping me out when we have a bit of history. Also, if that is indeed the monster

I would expect tidal waves to play a part in the movie (with the tail and whole whale thing....) and you don't see any of that in the previews.

:(

I'd almost be tempted to go out right now and buy a replacement if it weren't for the fact that A) it's getting close to bed time and I need to make up for having stayed up last night to watch the Warriors/Suns game (which was totally unbelievably awesome). B) I don't really have the means to bring something that big home anyway. I'm not lugging a DVD player on a bus. Which brings me to C)I need a car for this and I don't have access to one...

I can't possibly see how the ending was a gimmick. The Coen brothers did a picture perfect adaptation of the source material, and left everything the novel offered intact.

I'm in no way trying to sway your opinion, but I'm just trying to figure how it seemed like a gimmick.

I agree that it was faithful to the book. The book received a huge amount of complaints about the ending as well. Complaints equal press. I may not have even heard of the book if not for the complaints at the time.

I think the author intended to blindside his readers with the ending. And I think the Coen's ran with it as well.

Anyway, it's just my speculation.

Here are some thoughts from a review that I pretty much agree with:

"Perhaps it is a commentary on chance and fate. Why this commentary must be made at the expense of the movie’s entertainment value I cannot figure. It seems like the Coen brothers disdained to make a predictable ending such as has been done thousands of times. But could they not find a unique way to conclude that doesn’t ruin the suspense they had set up? Did Shyamalan mine the last of the surprise endings?"

well anyhoo got a replacements album on Tip's "possibly the best band of the 80's" or something to that effect. Got the first one which is unashamedly punk. Really good catchy tunes. Jenny Lewis and the Watson twins: Rabbit Fur Coat is still sooooooo good. you can literally hear her mouth lube pop against her poland borders. I would put it somewhere between Fox confessor and the virginian as it is upbeat alot but also has the lyrical depth of fox confessor. Not as good as fox confessor but I would put above other neko case albums.

Same here. I was more than a little annoyed at that with the TMNT dvd. Then, when they showed extra footage that's actually footage, the asshole director talked the whole time. No option to turn that off, either.

It's great for animators I guess but they get boring fast for just the everyday watcher. at least for me anyways. I still need to see TMNT.

I was up until 830AM watching episodes 3-7 of the last half of the last season of The Sopranos. What a great fucking show. I don't get people's complaints about the last few seasons of the show. I think they maintain the same level of quality throughout.

I'll be digging into the last two episodes here in another hour or so.

Angel I don't know if you saw my post on it but I asked Mike Richardson about blade of the immortal and there are no plains for larger collections but they may flip it's current format back to the original japanese right to left.

When Nic and I lived in the apartment we made a decapitated snowman crime scene using ketchup for blood. It was in a courtyard that pretty much every other apartment faced. The old people living there must have thought we were very odd. Possibly dangerous.

I've got it on VHS, taped from television about 8-10 years ago. I'd get the DVD, but it was edited slightly because of rights issues (or so I've heard).

But it's great. I love it. A Christmas tradition in my house.

Okay, I woke up in the middle of the night last night and something about Bender's Big Score occurred to me. Something about which I have mixed feelings:

The fate of Seymour.

Bender's Big Score does kinda diminish the impact of "Jurassic Bark." What made Jurassic Bark resonate so well was the idea that Fry's dog waited for him, but Fry never showed up. And how sad that was.

But the twist at the end of BBS reveals that Fry did come back. Sure, he left a few years later, and you can fit the "Seymour waiting" scenes into that period. You can reconcile the two episodes by fitting them together in that way. But it makes "Jurassic Bark" less sad because Fry came back (in a fashion). On the one hand, that's a good thing...it makes Jurassic Bark less depressing. On the other hand, it feels like "Jurassic Bark" won't resonate the same way.

*shrug*

Beyond that, I still loved it. :D

I gave a bit of thought to this, and I am of the belief that none of that past stuff actually "happened" now. Although every time I saw Seymour out there I got a bit sad.

Actually, that would make some sense, especially in light of the ending. If all those Benders never gave their loot to the Scammers, it might have corrected the timeline. Hmm.

Is that how you mean?
