I'm working on Shadow Hunter #2 and the electricity shut off. :surrend: Normally this is not a problem as i have a back up battery and I simply hit cntl-S which saves the file before the battery runs out of juice. BUT the battery was old and it SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF SAVING THE FILE!!!! This means corrupt file... file go bye-bye... bye-bye file.
>sigh<
Anyway, if any of you are working digitally (and I mean illustration AND writing too), I still think you should invest in a back-up battery. If you already have one you might want to consider testing it to see how long it keeps your computer running after you pull out the plug. If its under a minute, i'd replace it immediately because in the situation I just described, i would have been better off with no back up battery at all. I had just saved the file 10 minutes before this happened, so i would have only lost 10 mins. of work. But because my battery died half way through the saving process, the file was ruined, and I lost 8 hours!

That's awful. Fortunately I work on a laptop, so that's not a huge issue. Though my laptop isn't exactly a speed machine, so I guess its a trade off.

That sucks! And this was the best part of the post for me. That is pretty much how I talk when I get frustrated.

My fave was when I was working late at night and I knew there was a bad storm. Our engineering department had all these high end power back ups in the edit suites, so I'm like, yeah whatever. Suddenly the power goes out and my entire edit suite goes dark. I crawl down with a flash light to see what the f happened, and they had the power back-ups plugged in, but the equipment was plugged into the damn wall. Nice.
