I'm hoping someone might be able to answer this. I do not know if this has been covered in the past, but I haven't found anything on it yet...

On the cover of Thor #482, aside from that garish outfit, it exclaims 400th Gigantic Issue! Thor's first appearance was Journey Into Mystery #83 and that title's last issue was #125, changing to Thor with #126.

Unless it's something obvious or my math is off (or it's just a mistake on Marvel's part), is there a reason why it's labeled as the 400th issue?

So it's THOR's (the character's) 400th issue

Because then you can do 400, 500 and the other 500.

Boost in sales then, and boost in sales 18 monthes from then.

Your math is off. If you think about it, comics don't start at issue 0, they start at 1. It is the 400th.

That's what I said (to the person that asked me about it).

Which of course was met with the reply of "but wouldn't #483 be his 400th appearance?" I think he was lost on the deal of not having an issue number one, as Dingo pointed out.

Thanks guys. I have to go make fun of someone now.
