I should have issue #23 cover completed by Tuesday, and then Marvel usually gets it up on their site by the middle of the month. I can't post until then...and then Spidey616 will probably beat me to it anyway! :mistrust:

:)
YUP! Looks like I beat ya to it once again Greg! 1 more issue down, meaning only 2 more left until Carol's historic 25th issue, as well as Greg's last MM cover. More monsters please!

I'm on the fence with this one, Greg. It looks great, but there are some anatomy issues (concerning her right arm, shoulder and the way her body is rotated because of them).

I like her face a lot though. I see some Daryl Hannah in there too! Was she an inspiration to you in this one? I know Adam Hughes always uses Audrey Hepburn as inspiration for his catwoman.

I like it. And I don't agree with there being any anatomy issues. If you are cranking your arm around to punch, that is pretty much how you would be. It's just that we generally aren't use to seeing someone in that pose.

The arm sockets that should connect to the shoulders, seem to be out of place (socket). Also, the angle of the shoulders (to me) seem off.

But again this could just be me, and isn't meant to be an attack, just one artist trying to help out another.

I am still disappointed that this is third to his last cover for MM. Was hoping he would have a Emma Frost/Elektra kinda run in length at least.

In this painting, I'm trying to give Carol's posture more of a cramped look-- I want her to look confined inside that eye to add a claustrophobic feel. I want her to be very BIG inside that eye! So, think of it as a close quarters punch as opposed to an all out haymaker punch. Of course most people perfer the "super-punch" poses-- they represent the ultimate presentation of a super-hero's strength and power, so I'm sure a lot of people will have the same opinion as you.
As for the likeness, that is one of my models Kelsey who also posed for THE STRANDED.

So, do you stick with same models, or try to find fresh faces?
And what is The Stranded?

A new look never hurts--besides you don't want all your characters to look like the same person. In the beginning, my wife posed for a lot of the characters, but as my workload increased I realized I'd need more variety. I've used my neighbors for a lot of paintings and I think they get a kick out of it. I think I posted the zombie pic of all my neighbors right?
Just an interesting tidbit: The girl who posed for my Emma Frost covers a few years ago is now one of the "Suitcase girls" on Deal or no deal.

The stranded is a joint venture between Virgin Comics and the Sci-Fi Channel. I don't have a lot of knowledge on the story just yet, but here is the official PR from San Diego (posted on ICV2.com)

Mike Carey's 'The Stranded'
From Virgin and Sci Fi Channel

August 01, 2007
Virgin Comics and Sci Fi Channel announced The Stranded as their first joint project at San Diego Comic-Con. The Stranded was created and written by Mike Carey, and is expected to release later in the year (see "Sci Fi Channel Teams Up With Virgin Comics"). Virgin Comics recently named Stuart Moore as editor for the new science fiction line (see "Stuart Moore to Edit Sci Fi line").

"The fact that we are seeding our new imprint with an original idea from Mike Carey gives me great confidence that this is going to be an awesome collaboration," said Gotham Chopra, Virgin Comics Chief Creative Officer. "Further nurturing that idea with the minds of Sci Fi's creative team and having Stuart Moore as editor to guide it makes me believe that we are at the start of a story that many people in comics and beyond will enjoy for a long time."

The Stranded recounts an epic adventure across two worlds where the Earthbound heroes are unaware of their special abilities or alien roots. The first issue of The Stranded will have dueling covers from Marc Silvestri and Greg Horn.

Is that model for Emma, Aubrie?

Hey Greg! You ever see that Simpsons episode where Homer becomes an acclaimed artist? Hearing about you using your wife and models just reminds me of that one scene where he's drawing Lenny and Carl in the shower and Carl says to Homer he's making him uncomfortable, but Lenny tells him he's just drawing him for his art, to which Homer says "UMMMMMMM Art......yeah, that's it........ :shifty:"

GOOOD TIMES! A little off topic from Carol, I know, so I have to ask, how are the last 2 covers coming along?

and ANY NEWS ON YOUR NEXT PROJECT AT MARVEL??!?!?!?!!?!?!??!?!/!

I just finished issue #24 and it came out great. It's a cool shot of Carol in the Binary/Ms Marvel form. It's pretty dramatic as she faces off with...uh...I've said too much already!
As for my next job with Marvel, I just let them know the situation last week, so it might take awhile before I hear anything concrete.
I saw the one where Homer becomes an artist-- isn't that the episode where he floods Springfield?
