One of my co-workers just had serious open-cranial surgery (successfully we've been told) and he's being released tomorrow to go home. I want to give him a "Welcome home" type gift. He's a trekker-type geek, not really into comics as far as I know, but I was thinking about giving him "The Leader" unique heroclix as kind of a gag gift (because of the exposed brain, right?). Here's the problem... I'm reasonably sure he's never heard of the Leader and wont get the joke. Alternatively I can give him a Brainiac13 fig, which he might have heard of, but doesn't look as cool (no brain!).
2 of my colleagues and I are also giving him a bottle of scotch with a note about "Rather having a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy".
So my question is this: Should I give him with the Unique fig (which only seems to be going from $5-10 on ebay, so I'm not worried about the money) which he might not appreciate, should I give him the Brainiac13 fig, or just let things lie with the booze?
Does anyone know if a post-op recovery patient is allowed to drink booze?
