What's up with those shoes? I don't get them when I see them (nothing against your art here) I see them in comics like WW where the people are from the olden days. Do they offer more support or something?
These days the leg strap thingees are purely a fashion statement and have no pratical function (except to cut your circulation off). But in olden times of long ago the leg straps thingees were intended to hold your socks up...
No, I'm serious! There was no elastic back then, so this was one way to keep your socks sliding down all day. It's probably more accurate to call them "leggings" though. Lower leg protection was especially important on military campaigns-- as malaria infested mosquitoes loved to bite ankles and destroy armies.
