So, I just finished watching Episode 1 again and I have a couple of stupid questions that I am sure that someone with a bigger knowdledge about Star Wars is can answer:
When Darth Maul... hmmm turns up (?) his lightsaber, he does it one side at the time, but when he stops fighting, it goes off all of a sudden. Why?
When some of those "rolling droids" use their shields, Padme and other soldiersī guns canīt do anything to break them, but when Anakin fires them from a small ship, the shields donīt stand a chance. I assume that it is because the shipīs blasts are more powerfull, but then, when he fires some other droids that donīt have a shield, we donīt see the difference between the blasters. Why?
During Qui-Gonīs funeral, Anakin has the hair like in the rest of the movie, but in the last scene, he has the padawan braid. Now, I always tought that this braid was made with the Padawanīs hair, but he didnīt have neough hair to have a braid like that. Was it made from another oneīs hair?
What the hell are those balls that the gungans have that can destroy droids and how do they work (I know that there must be some sort of explanation)?
Also, how many siths are during these movies? In the Jedi Academy Videogame, it seems that there are hundreds, but in the first 2 prequels (havenīt seen ep 3 yet) there are only 2.

Yeah, I know. But since some people can "explain" how lightsabers work...

there's a difference between a sith and a dark jedi.
also, things change. during the movies, two siths was the rule. they probably realized that wasn't working so they tried it other ways.

I think the more important question is why are you subjecting yourself to Episode I again? Sorry it had to be said....
Seriously though, regarding your questions:
Darth Maul's Saber: Maybe he has more than one button for the different functions of the weapon?
Anaken's Hair: a weave?
Gungan's weapon: no clue, sorry.
Sith: from what I can recall at one point in history there were quite a few Sith and the Jedi hunted them down, killing most of them. I believe Dark Horse Comics had a series of books about this in the early 90s. I guess the question I have is where in the Star Wars timeline does the Jedi Academy take place?
Hope this helps.

There was nothing worse on tv :p

After the original trilogy, since Luke is the "headmaster".

When Darth Maul... hmmm turns up (?) his lightsaber, he does it one side at the time, but when he stops fighting, it goes off all of a sudden. Why?
Multiple buttons.
Why?
Fighter blasters are far more powerful.
What the hell are those balls that the gungans have that can destroy droids and how do they work (I know that there must be some sort of explanation)?
Plasmic energy that burst on impact, basically.
Also, how many siths are during these movies? In the Jedi Academy Videogame, it seems that there are hundreds, but in the first 2 prequels (havenīt seen ep 3 yet) there are only 2.
Sith are different from Dark Jedi.

Fighter blasters are far more powerful.
Then why a single blast canīt disintegrate an unshielded droid?

It punches through the shield, hitting the droid inside with the same power as it would without the shield.

EDIT- and what about lightsabers, can they "break" the shields?

according to the games, yes. but to get that close is deadly and dangerous.

For all the shit Episode I gets, it still is an enjoyable movie. Some of the best Jedi battle scenes are found in that film.

The problem is people have inflated expectations for what is essentially an action film. A New Hope isn't as great as people remember it, IMO. I was watching it last night and many times moaned at the amount of corniness in it. I still like it...but it was never meant to be taken that damn seriously.

I agree. The fight with Dart Maul was one of the bests, but I think that in the first part of it, the choreography is too visible.
