. . . from seeing all those pictures of him on the "drink ups" and that picture of him downing the large bottle of Chimay. Seeing him drinking it, I had to try it. Good taste seems to run with Mr. Oeming, I figured his taste in beer was on par.

Damn you Oeming for getting me addicted to a three dollar a bottle beer! :)

Edit: It's the Copenhagen of beers.

I only wish you could get big bottles of Chimay for $3.

And, Mike, if you show up in this thread: did you ever make it over to Monks in Philly? That is THE Chimay bar.

God damned savages.

Don't follow his example of drinking it from the bottle. Pour the damned thing. There's yeast slurry in the bottom of the bottle which you'll end up drinking if you chug from the bottle. POUR IT! The yeast won't hurt you, but can affect flavor.

Fuck Stella. It's crap. And it's made by the European equivalent of Anheiser Busch. Buncha cocksuckers.

Heineken on draft or in a can is 100 times better. It's clean, at least.

how is Budweiser marketed over there?

In Zagreb? It's not. AB doesn't have the legal right to use the Budweiser name here. That right belongs to the rightful owner of the name, Budweiser Budvar, a Czech beer that is FAR FAR FAR superior. Very tasty stuff. AB Budweiser is not sold here that I've seen. If they WERE to market it here, they'd undoubtedly use just "Bud" as they do in the UK if I remember correctly. Just like in the States from 20 years ago, the folks here drink a lot of crappy beer and are strangely loyal to crappy brands for whatever reason.

I read a few months back that Interbrew, who make Stella among others, may buy AB. That'd make the biggest brewer in the world. They couldn't possibly make Bud worse than AB.

Matt, this might interest you: Interbrew (the cocksuckers) decided to let the Hoegaerden white beer be brewed back in it's hometown. Last year they moved the production away for financial reasons. But they couldn't get the brewing process right and made only inferior Hoegaarden. So they relinquinshed.

Good. Stupid motherfuckers.

Have you had that new-ish Celis White?

It's FAR superior to Hoegaarden.

Read my blog entry all about it:

And real Budweiser is brewed in Budweis.

So, the technical name for American Budweiser would be sparkling piss?

Seriously though, how good is this stuff? I've been looking into it for a while, and I don't get the review-speak (mouthfeel?, etc.). I'm a Sam Adams, Shiner Bock drinker, by default, if that helps.

If you drank Czech beer, you'd think you would have died and gone to heaven.

Czech beer is the best in the world - and I'm saying that being German!

Czech beer does indeed rock.

To compare the true Budweiser from Budweis with the American piss using that name is like comparing this Bugati:

You couldn't even post a picture of a Pinto in good condition?

So, they're different races?

Those pictures get the idea across better about how I feel about those two beers anyway.

Chimay is not only really tasty, but it's absolutely the best beer to cook a beef stew in.
