My old man has had the same pseudo-mullet hairstyle since about 1984.

back in the 70's my mom used to go to the supermarked with these HUGE plastic rollers attached to her head w/ bobby pins. They were sherbert green color.

Then, because she 'didn't want to be looked at', she would put a kerchief over the rollers. It was a silk kerchief with a giant horse on it. mortifying!

My dad has three, four jokes, tops. He's been telling them since i was little. It use to embarrass me for some reason. These days, i just kinda chuckle. He's just silly old man.

My grandfather would drive me and a friend somewhere, crank some Am radio and sing while doing the drums of the song on the dashboard. It was wrenching at the time.

My mother-- a woman with more than her fair share of extra poundage-- wore cut-off jean shorts up until a couple years ago. Tight cut-off jean shorts.

My mom is the biggest newsbag imaginable and that always embarrased the hell out of me growing up when she wouldn't mind her own business.

My parents always left their bedroom door open.

Always.

When walking places, my dad would do the old Young Frankenstein joke, "Walk this way..." gag ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ythMI3NzJyY ). It embarressed me SO much as a kid. Now as an adult...it still embarresses me ;-)

And now you find the bedroom thing endearing?

OMG!! I do the same exact thing!!! Embarrass the hell out of my husband, too! LOL....

Weird sense of humor, what can I say.....

I can't think of anything my parents did that were embarrassing - AND endearing. Dad did a lot of embarrassing stuff...none endearing. Got drunk, punched holes in the wall...fun stuff like that. Mom only did embarrassing things to ME....like....make me wear her old maternity tops as dresses to school, because we didn't have much money. I HATED that. And then there were those nasty tights she'd make me wear that always fell down to my ankles. Ugh.

No wonder I hate clothes....
